Production Coordinator | ONE HAT ONE HAND


Overview

The Production Department Coordinator acts as a liaison between Management/Project Managers and the Fabrication team. The Coordinator helps maintain a safe, professional, and productive environment for fabricators and our projects. Production organization, scheduling, and tracking are the primary focus of this role.


This is an active role that provides broadview support in the Production Department for materials and processes with focus on individual projects at times. The Coordinator assists in setting the pace for the production team. When best performed, this is a dynamic position split 50-50 on average between desk and shop floor.

Reports To: Production Manager

Shared Responsibility For: Crew Communications, Scheduling, Transportation, Logistics, and Project Materials

Budget Responsibilities: Personal Expenses, Material Expenses, Crew Timecards


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Production Planning & Scheduling:
    Provide cross-coverage and support production planning and scheduling, ensuring the schedule is consistently up to date. Assist in prioritizing tasks in coordination with the Production Manager and project team.
  • Project & Installation Support:
    Work with the project team to assist and execute production preparations, ie: equipment rentals, travel and accommodation bookings, and mileage/expense reimbursements, etc.
  • Production Goals Support:
    Ensure Production Staff have the necessary resources, information, and space to meet daily production goals. Work hand in hand with the team to streamline the production process and set the pace for fabrication with awareness of budgeted time and deadlines.
  • Team Collaboration & Quality Control:
    Act as a liaison between Production Management, Project Management/Design Department, and the Production Staff to ensure smooth communication and effective quality control across projects.
  • Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:
    Participate in
    developing solutions for unforeseen issues and troubleshoot project flow challenges in collaboration with all departments.
  • Design Review Participation:
    Participate in design reviews for upcoming and current projects, providing valuable feedback from a production perspective.
  • Shop Morale & Protocol Support:
    Maintain positive morale in the shop and contribute to creating, and maintaining effective production protocols.
  • Space & Storage Management:
    Assist with overseeing space management for projects and storage.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Shared Responsibility for crew safety, including training, PPE, and necessary tools/materials for both the workplace and project locations.



Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role (preferably in the fabrication or production industry)
  • Equipment operation ie; forklift, box truck, scissor lift a plus
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary fabrication and finishing techniques
  • Well-developed sense of personal responsibility and accountability
  • Ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and delegation skills
  • Problem-solving and the ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances
  • Comprehensive understanding of workplace safety
  • Capability to meet tight deadlines and manage/prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with commercial construction schedules, procedures, and protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana, Instagantt, Slack, and G-Suite


General Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel and occasionally work evenings, weekends, or extended hours.
  • GED or High School Diploma required
