Role Overview
SAP NS2 is seeking a Senior DevOps Manager to lead our Cloud Infrastructure DevOps function supporting secure, scalable, and highly automated cloud environments for SAP products and services. This leader will be responsible for driving the strategy, execution, and operational excellence of a multi-cloud infrastructure organization serving a diverse customer base, including local, state, and federal government agencies, as well as private sector organizations supporting government-related missions.
This role requires a strong people leader with deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, automation, platform engineering, and secure operations. The Senior DevOps Manager will lead a team responsible for building and operating provider-agnostic infrastructure solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP, while partnering closely with internal product teams, security stakeholders, and customer-facing organizations.
The ideal candidate brings a balance of strategic leadership, hands-on technical depth, operational rigor, and a security-first mindset. This individual will help scale engineering practices, mature automation capabilities, and ensure the reliability, compliance, and performance of mission-critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing DevOps and cloud infrastructure team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Define and execute the roadmap for cloud infrastructure automation, platform standardization, and operational maturity across multiple cloud service providers.
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of secure, scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, with a strong emphasis on Terraform and automation-first practices.
  • Guide the team in maintaining and troubleshooting Terraform-based infrastructure deployments across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Oversee the use and continuous improvement of Ansible playbooks and configuration management practices to support customer infrastructure at scale.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices for source control, code review, branching strategy, and change management using GitLab and multiple repositories.
  • Lead the deployment and operational management of containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Partner with engineering, security, compliance, and customer-facing teams to deliver resilient infrastructure solutions aligned to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management efforts related to infrastructure, platform, and connectivity issues.
  • Provide leadership oversight for troubleshooting traffic flow and connectivity between customer and hosted environments.
  • Ensure robust monitoring, logging, alerting, and configuration management capabilities are implemented and maintained across a multi-tenant, multi-cloud environment.
  • Promote a security-first operating model, embedding security, governance, and compliance requirements into infrastructure design, deployment, and operations.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, system design artifacts, governance materials, standard operating procedures, knowledge base articles, and technical bulletins.
  • Identify opportunities to responsibly leverage generative AI to improve engineering efficiency, consistency, speed, and operational effectiveness within approved security boundaries.
  • Manage team priorities, resource planning, delivery expectations, and cross-functional dependencies to ensure successful execution of strategic and operational objectives.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong leadership experience managing DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or SRE teams in complex enterprise environments.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS foundational services, including EC2, S3, IAM, Route 53, and VPC.
  • Deep knowledge of Azure foundational services, including Virtual Networks, Application Gateway, Storage Accounts, Virtual Machines, Load Balancer, and Resource Groups.
  • Strong knowledge of GCP foundational services, including Projects, Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, and VPC.
  • Expertise in Terraform, including module design, reusable patterns, and multi-cloud infrastructure deployment strategies.
  • Experience leading CI/CD maturity and automation initiatives across engineering organizations.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Python and Bash.
  • Experience with RBAC design, identity provisioning, and access governance.
  • Strong investigative and troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, systems, and cloud configurations.
  • Experience with logging, observability, and log processing in cloud environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of networking concepts, including IP routing, subnetting, DNS, and network troubleshooting.
  • Strong Linux systems knowledge, including deployment, configuration, hardening, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with enterprise workflow and ticketing platforms such as ServiceNow and Jira.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering roles.
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing technical teams in a DevOps, infrastructure, or cloud engineering environment.
  • Hands-on experience with technologies such as Python, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD platforms, Vault, and identity management solutions.
  • Strong experience with Unix/Linux operating systems, including administration, hardening, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience with networking fundamentals and distributed systems operations in cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading teams responsible for large-scale, distributed, multi-cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling infrastructure automation programs in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
  • Experience supporting government, national security, or critical infrastructure customers.
