Description
Our integrated Transportation design-build practice is looking to add a proven design manager to our Alternative Delivery team to support our growing portfolio of design-build and other alternative delivery projects in the Midwest, South, and Southeastern U.S. As our Transportation practice plans to double our revenue and expand geographically over the next three years, you will work with national leadership and be integral to achieving that goal. The Alternate Delivery Design Manager is responsible for managing the pursuit, design, and delivery of Transportation alternate delivery projects. This position works closely with the Alternate Delivery Design Director, Transportation Construction/Design-Build (TRN CDB) leadership, project managers, and regional office teams to successfully execute design-build and other alternate delivery projects. The Alternate Delivery Design Manager provides leadership for project teams, supports business development efforts, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Support the development and execution of Transportation alternate delivery business initiatives and project goals.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among regional offices and project stakeholders, including but not limited to identification and vetting of opportunities, making Go/No-Go decisions, and assessing key staff availability.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams through pursuit and project execution activities.
  • Assist with business development efforts with project owners and contractor partners, plan and participate in industry events, as well as targeted owner and contractor engagements.
  • Identify project risks and collaborate with leadership to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop pursuit strategy and support proposal preparation, project interviews, and pursuit planning activities.
  • Develop scope of services for pre-award/pursuit phase and post-award/design phase pursuits and active projects.
  • Coordinate with the Alternate Delivery Design Director and Transportation Construction Design Build leadership on project staffing, scheduling, and resource planning, including but not limited to identification and evaluation of key staff and subconsultants that strengthen the design team's ability to win and successfully deliver projects.
  • Manage design efforts for alternate delivery pursuits and active projects.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and performance metrics to achieve project objectives during both the pre-award and post-award phases of projects.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to project managers, engineers, and design professionals assigned to alternate delivery projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality control procedures and project delivery standards.
  • Support project diversity, inclusion, and supplier diversity initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across alternate delivery project teams.
  • Participate in employee development activities, coaching, and performance feedback discussions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited program and 10 years related engineering, consulting, project management, or alternate delivery experience, preferably within the A/E industry required.
  • 15 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience managing complex, transportation design or design-build projects.
  • Experience with proposal development, project planning, budget management, scheduling, and client coordination.
  • Experience working with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Strong collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to positively influence others and effectively manage project execution activities.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information to clients, leadership, and project teams.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
  • Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) certification preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

Compensation
$150,000.00-300,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
