Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Structural Design Manager to lead high-profile pursuits and project delivery efforts across the New York City Metropolitan area. Working in with Transit and Rail team, this position is ideal for an engineering professional who is well versed in Alternative Project Delivery (APD) pursuits and capable of stepping into a visible leadership role.
In this role you'll work alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of engineers, and architects on high-profile and transformative transit infrastructure projects throughout the NYC region and across North America. Some exciting projects that Stantec's NYC team is actively working on include, Brewster Yard Improvements Phase 1, Elevator replacements at NYCT transit stations, NYCT ADA Package 7 and Newark Liberty Airport AirTran replacement, as well as numerous other transit improvement projects for our local clients.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Lead pursuit teams for large APD opportunities within the New York City Metropolitan area while serving as a key point of contact for contractors, marketing, commercial management, and design teams.
  • Guide the development of technical and cost proposals that win work and build long-term partnerships.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams from design development through construction on Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build projects.
  • Review and coordinate design deliverables to ensure alignment with client standards and agency requirements.
  • Provide QA/QC oversight, monitoring the work of structural engineers and ensuring technical excellence.
  • Balance and prioritize multiple pursuits and projects in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, sharing knowledge and guiding professional development.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, approval agencies, and industry partners.
  • Grow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec's reputation and attract top talent

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Strong understanding of APD pursuit workflows and design delivery.
  • Functional expertise with structural analysis and CADD/BIM software.
  • Experience working with agencies such as MTA, PANYNJ, and NJ Transit on large-scale and/or APD projects.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable codes and standards such as AREMA, MTA, NYCBC, ASCE, AISC, and ACI.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Proven ability to think creatively, anticipate challenges, and develop practical solutions.
  • Willingness to supervise and mentor developing professionals, supporting both technical growth and career development.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent; relevant Graduate Degree would be considered an asset.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New York
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience in the structural design of Bridges and/or Transit & Rail structures.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
