Your Opportunity
Stantec's New England Transportation group has an immediate need for a highly Structural Design Team Leader with a minimum of 15 years bridge design and transportation project delivery experience. The position is flexible between our Burlington and Boston, MA offices and hybrid work. At Stantec, we value a hybrid work environment that combines in-person collaboration with remote flexibility.
As a people leader you will be expected to be in the office, on average, three days a week. This is an excellent opportunity to pursue and manage progressive engineering projects of varying scale and complexity in Massachusetts and throughout New England. You will oversee pursuits, technical employees, work planning, technical design management and oversight, project delivery, quality management, contract administration, change management, and risk management. The Stantec Transportation group provides services primarily to public sector clients. Your Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as Stantec's Southern New England Structural Team Lead.
  • Contribute to initiatives to help advance our project design, operations, and business development
  • Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider
  • Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams on projects from positioning to proposals, planning studies, feasibility through final designs, and construction services
  • Represent Stantec and the project design team as a technical leader
  • Identify appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives. Manage contract tasks, track, and manage costs and schedule, and implement measures necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Lead by example with active support of internal policies and practices, including risk management, project management, and quality management
  • Grow internal and external networks to enhance Stantec reputation and identify additional talent to join our team
  • Develop client relationships to facilitate project activities

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience with the role of deputy design manager, design manager, and or quality manager on mid to large scale projects
  • Experience leading the design and construction support of complex transportation projects
  • Experience developing, negotiating, and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets
  • Business development experience required
  • Marketing skills required
  • Ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and develop a team of technical and professional staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in a dynamic and energetic environment
  • Design-Build or other alterative project delivery experience preferred.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field. Post graduate degree preferred
  • MA Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive engineering and project management experience with bridge design and transportation project delivery

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
