Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

This design engineering position will be primarily responsible for the design process for the RT and Datacenter product lines. The primary focus will be utilizing 3D CAD systems to generate solid models, 3D assemblies, and 2D drawings to meet customer, vendor, and in-house specifications. Additionally, team members will be asked to assist other departments on an as needed basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Generates 3D component parts and assemblies of proposed designs using computer aided drafting/design software (Autodesk Inventor)
  • Verifies material to be used and relation of one part to another as well as to the whole structure or project
  • Creates and revises production drawings (component parts and assembly drawings) that include detailed multi-views with all necessary dimensions and notes
  • Maintains drafting standards utilizing appropriate company guidelines and suggests improvements as needed
  • Utilizes knowledge of various manufacturing principles, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and physical sciences to complete detailed designs and drawings
  • Assists with the design and building of prototype parts or systems
  • Assists production with assembly and troubleshooting as needed
  • Maintains an enterprise resource planning system including the item master and production Bills of Materials
  • Creates work instructions to assist production as well as streamlining design department processes
  • Ability to work with production staff and other engineers to solve problems
  • Communicates with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, and/or Vendors regarding new and revised designs or drawings
  • Seeks out action items to improve the design process
  • Follows priorities and check with manager for other instructions
  • All other duties assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, design engineering, or relevant field
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3-years’ experience with manufacturing processes involving industrial heat exchangers, and/or similar manufacturing processes
