Summary of Job Duties:
The Lab Technician supports instructional and research activities in the Industrial Technology Management and Applied Engineering department by maintaining, operating, and supervising laboratory equipment and facilities. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and effective functioning of labs related to manufacturing, automation, materials testing, CAD/CAM, CNC machining, electronics, and other industrial technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Prepare lab setups and materials for instructional use.
โ€ข Calibrate, maintain, and repair equipment and tools in accordance with safety and operational standards.
โ€ข Assist faculty and students in the proper use of lab equipment and software.
โ€ข Maintain inventory of lab supplies and coordinate procurement as needed.
โ€ข Enforce lab safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and institutional guidelines.
โ€ข Support faculty in developing and implementing lab experiments or demonstrations.
โ€ข Troubleshoot technical issues related to equipment, hardware, and software.
Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment, automation systems, or industrial software.
Familiarity with CAD/CAM, CNC programming, PLCs, and other relevant tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
