Every day, our products move millions of peopleas we aim to makedriving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role

The Propulsion Mounting Engineer - Noise & Vibration (N&V) supports the virtual integration and development of propulsion and ACEC mounting systems with a focus on vehicle noise and vibration performance. This role contributes to simulation-based evaluations and design assessments at the component, subsystem, and vehicle levels to ensure N&V targets are achieved.

Working within the Vehicle Development, Design, and Validation (VDDV) environment, the engineer will apply analytical methods and CAE tools to support design decisions, learn enterprise-level development processes, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams. This position offers hands-on exposure to advanced simulation techniques, virtual vehicle modeling, and emerging AI/ML-enabled engineering workflows, while building a strong foundation in propulsion mounting system design.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop deep technical expertise in propulsion mounting systems and vehicle N&V while working in a collaborative, simulation-driven environment. The role provides clear pathways for growth into advanced technical, system integration, or technical leadership positions within vehicle development.

What You'll Do

  • Guide the design and development of systems impacting N&V through simulation-based validation, ensuring alignment with vehicle-level performance targets.

  • Perform analytical simulations at the full vehicle, subsystem, and component levels using Mounting tools.

  • Build, debug, and execute analytical models to predict N&V performance and generate actionable design recommendations.

  • Develop technical solutions that meet N&V targets while optimizing for mass, cost, and packaging constraints.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure holistic performance integration.

  • Conduct design optimization and variation analysis using Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and other methodologies.

  • Support the development of advancement of analysis techniques, simulation tools, and procedures, including solver parameters and material characterization.

  • Stay current with competitive product trends through training and technical workshops.

  • Contribute to Closed-Loop Learning (CLL) initiatives and actively participate in forums supporting Virtual Development and enterprise-wide performance integration.

  • Engage in Global Product & Technical Focus Groups and other collaborative engineering communities.

  • Understand and support the PS Mounting SSRV process, attend PDT and PIT meetings as necessary to drive the component, system and vehicle level design for propulsion and ACEC mounting.

  • Engage with MBD and other teams to provide them with input from mounting simulation models and collaborate to deliver N&V VTS requirements.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 2+ years relevant experience

  • Foundational knowledge of vibrations, dynamics, structures, or related coursework.

  • Exposure to CAE and simulation tools through coursework, internships, or co-op experience.

  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline.

  • Internship, co-op, or project experience related to vehicle NVH, vibrations, or vehicle dynamics.

  • Familiarity with GM-specific tools and processes (e.g., Teamcenter, UG-NX, GM VDDV toolchain).

  • Understanding of how customer and vehicle-level requirements translate into engineering performance metrics.

  • Knowledge of enterprise-level simulation integration and virtual development workflows.

  • Experience developing scripts and automation tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, VBA) to automate workflows, data processing, and reporting.

  • Hands-on experience applying Machine Learning and AI techniques (e.g., surrogate modeling, pattern recognition, design space exploration, predictive performance modeling) to engineering and CAE applications.
