For over a century, Norton has been dedicated to achieving a common goal: to bring to readers and students enduring fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, as well as high-quality textbooks and digital learning tools.
About the internship
W. W. Norton is looking for interns to participate in our twelve-week internship program. Our internship program provides participants with an engaging, supportive, and hands-on learning experience in publishing that includes educational lunch sessions and networking within the intern class. Your work if you become a Norton intern with the Trade Marketing team may include the following:
  • Work closely with the W. W. Norton Trade Marketing team to support the department's creative needs for a wide range of genres, including works of history, science, fiction, economics, memoir, and more.
  • Assist with conception, build-out, revision, and production of various print and digital projects which may include postcards, Amazon A+ content, email/social/web graphics, digital banner ads, promotional items, video posts, and/or product photography.
  • Research social media trends
  • Assist in social media to create graphic design or video posts that will cater to our audience
  • Assist in setup of basic film shoots
  • Adhere to brand guidelines and complete projects within deadlines
  • Take part in brainstorming ideas and pitching design solutions
  • Assist with general organizational and administrative work as needed

Experience and Skills
Qualifications:
  • Graphic design, art, film or marketing/advertising background preferred
  • Solid portfolio demonstrating basic knowledge of design fundamentals, creativity, and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop (primary), Adobe Premiere Pro (secondary), Illustrator, and InDesign
  • An interest or basic knowledge of product photography, filming, and/or video editing.
  • Collaborative approach to teamwork as well as ability to work independently
  • Enthusiasm for design and creative problem-solving
  • Ability to distill and implement feedback
  • Animation and photography skills are a plus, but not necessary.

Internship details
  • Interns are paid $17 per hour, subject to applicable law, and work a maximum of 20 hours weekly.
  • Internship period is twelve weeks from 9/14/2026-12/4/2026
  • Our workday is 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time; specific work hours are flexible to accommodate an intern's schedule.
  • The trade marketing design internship will be in-person at our Manhattan office.
  • Eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
