Job Title: Design Intern
Department: Hive Collective
Reports To: Hive Trade Store Manager
This paid seasonal internship will start in the Fall of 2026 and continue through Spring 2027. Hours will flex between 35-40 hours per week during the duration of the role.

Job Overview:
The Hive Trade Design Intern will assist in client interactions, operational processes, visual merchandising and design projects while also gaining exposure to the retail and trade operations of Hive Collective. This role requires a passion for luxury design, strong organizational and communication skills, and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate is flexible, eager to support both creative and operational aspects of the business, and comfortable engaging with clients on the sales floor.
You will work closely with our Trade sales teams, shadow and cross-train with our Trade Project Manager/Data Administrator and Textile Specialist to learn all aspects of the role, support all textile sales and assist with the coordination of Hive Trade events - all while bringing the Hive aesthetic to life on the sales floor.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Support
  • Assist the design teams with project research and material selections.
  • Support client requests and presentations by preparing samples and materials.
  • Help maintain an organized resource library of fabrics, finishes, and materials.
  • Attend client meetings and site visits with the design team as needed.

Operational & Sales Support
  • Shadow and cross-train with the Textile Specialist, Hive Trade Project Manager/Data Administrator to learn all aspects of the role and support where needed.
  • Support the Trade Textile Sales Lead to learn all aspects of textile sales in order to answer client questions and maintain internal organization.
  • Assist the MDG and Hive Design teams weekly with library organization.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of Hive Trade events.
  • Engage with clients on the sales floor, providing exceptional service aligned with the Hive brand.

Operations & Professional Development
  • Maintain accurate records of project updates and client interactions
  • Gain exposure to the business side of luxury interior design and retail
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance the customer experience
  • Remain adaptable and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed

Requirements
What Your Background / Experience Should Look Like:
  • Graduating senior or graduate student in Interior Design, Visual Merchandising, or a related field. Design experience is welcome!
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication abilities and customer service skills
  • Passion for luxury design, style, and dรฉcor
  • Willingness to spend time on the sales floor engaging with clients
  • Interest in visual merchandising and retail displays
  • Knowledge of current design trends and social media is a plus
