Our Calgary office is seeking a Architectural Technologist with the desire to use and grow their technical expertise to successfully deliver architecture projects across Water, Resource, Federal, and Building Engineering market sectors. In this role, you'll partner with project managers to support the planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of multiple building types, from high-performance data centers that power cloud computing and the digital infrastructure the world relies on, to water treatment facilities that provide clean drinking water for entire communities, to advanced manufacturing plants, office spaces, operations centers, and maintenance facilities, among other project types.

You'll work together with architects, planners, designers, engineers, technical experts, and project managers to solve complex design challenges with creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. From championing design excellence with an emphasis on resilience and sustainability to pioneering innovative building technologies, your contributions will leave a lasting impact on the built environment. 
Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain a culture of client-focused project delivery through high technical competency.
  • Independently coordinate the work of a multidiscipline team through all phases of projects.
  • Be involved in multiple projects at any one time.
  • Actively participate as a member of our in-office studio, mentoring intern architects, technologists within the team.
  • Organize and participate in construction documentation i.e., leading-building envelope design, interior details, coordination with different disciplines
  • Collaborate with project design teams to facilitate project execution through highly skilled detailing.
  • Leading coordination efforts with outside and internal engineering consultants.
  • Performing QA/QC and implement project milestone QA/QC reviews, technical reviews across projects.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of Architectural specifications in contract documents and coordinate with specification writers.
  • Be well-versed in implementation and application of OBC

*Project types include Transportation Architecture, Healthcare, Science, and Data Centre projects.

Selection Process: Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Revit skills assessment to demonstrate their proficiency with Revit software and related design tasks. Accommodations will be made available upon request.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8-10 years related experience
  • Previous experience with an Architectural Consulting firm.
  • Must have experience on both small and large-scale projects
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design / LEED / WELL
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Revit 3D Modeling and Microsoft Office
  • Must have experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, with minimal management oversight.
  • Committed to being a team player who is willing to learn, expand their skillset and be versatile in tasks.
  • Proficiency in French an asset but not required.
  • Professional, self-motivated, well-organized, and detail-oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • Accredited Architectural Technologist

Candidates without an Architectural Technologist designation will be titled "Design Technician 2"

Required Qualifications
  • Technical degree or a minimum of 3 years related industry experience
  • Technically qualified with 3D design software and document management infrastructure 
  • Competency of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
  • Experience with 3D Coordination tools
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational traits are essential
  • Intermediate understanding of engineering or architectural concepts
