Job description

This role is for one of our clients
Compensation: $80-$150 per hour
1. Overview
We are seeking experienced brand and visual design professionals to support a project focused on evaluating how effectively AI systems perform real-world brand and design work.
As an Agency Brand Design Expert, you will help define what exceptional professional design looks like by developing task-specific evaluation criteria and assessing completed work samples. You will review both AI-generated and human-created work and provide rigorous, well-reasoned feedback based on professional design standards.
This role is particularly suited to designers with experience at leading independent branding and design agencies who can bring strong creative judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to articulate why a design succeeds or falls short.
Requirements
2. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop precise, task-specific grading criteria for real-world brand and design deliverables, including:
    • Brand identity systems and guidelines
    • Logo design and visual identity
    • Campaign and marketing creatives
    • Packaging concepts
    • Presentation and layout design
    • Digital and social media assets
    • Brand messaging and positioning
  • Evaluate AI-generated and human-produced design work against established criteria.
  • Provide detailed written justifications explaining the reasoning behind each score or evaluation.
  • Assess design work for visual quality, strategic alignment, consistency, usability, and overall brand effectiveness.
  • Apply consistent, evidence-based creative judgment so evaluations remain reproducible and defensible.
  • Review work against professional standards for typography, composition, hierarchy, color, branding, and visual communication.
  • Incorporate structured feedback from senior reviewers and refine evaluations accordingly.
  • Help identify subtle design strengths, weaknesses, inconsistencies, and areas requiring improvement.
3. Ideal Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience in brand design, visual design, graphic design, or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional experience specifically within world-class independent branding or design agencies is strongly preferred.
  • Experience at organizations comparable to leading global design studios and brand consultancies.
  • Agency experience is preferred over experience limited to in-house or enterprise design teams.
  • Strong expertise in one or more core brand disciplines, including:
    • Creative Direction
    • Brand Design
    • Logo and Visual Identity Design
    • Web/UI/UX Design
    • Graphic Design
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Typography
    • Layout and visual hierarchy
    • Color theory and application
    • Composition
    • Logo development
    • Brand identity systems
    • Visual consistency
    • Creative direction and critique
  • Ability to articulate design feedback with the clarity and strategic perspective expected during a senior creative review.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to explain precisely why a design does or does not meet professional standards.
  • Highly detail-oriented, consistent, and comfortable having creative judgment reviewed and calibrated against other experts.
  • Experience with copywriting, brand messaging, audience research, competitive analysis, or brand positioning is a strong advantage.
  • Prior experience with AI training, AI evaluation, rubric-based assessment, or human-data projects is a plus.
4. Application Process
  • Submit your resume, professional background, and portfolio to begin the application process.
  • A portfolio demonstrating relevant professional brand and design work is strongly preferred.
  • Qualified applicants may be asked to complete a brief design assessment or provide additional information about their experience.
  • Candidates will be evaluated based on their professional design expertise, creative judgment, attention to detail, and ability to communicate their reasoning clearly.
5. Engagement Details
  • Role: Agency Brand Design Expert
  • Work Arrangement: Fully Remote
  • Engagement Type: Independent Contractor
  • Schedule: Flexible, based on project requirements
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project needs and performance.
  • Payments are made weekly based on services rendered through available payment platforms.
  • The engagement will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, or institution.
