Job description

As a Transit Design Engineer, you will assist on bus rapid transit, light rail, commuter rail, and other transit related projects.
Unmatched Comp Time Policy: Hours worked over 40 in a week can be reimbursed as additional pay at an equivalent hourly rate or banked as additional PTO.
  • Provide effective and accurate communication with clients, co-workers, stakeholders, contractors, and other team members.
  • Support project managers and engineers with design tasks and report preparation for various transit projects.
  • Prepare engineering related calculations, drawings, and exhibits. 
  • Perform independent research, including site visits, as directed and communicate findings to project teams.
  • Collaborate with project team members to ensure delivery of high-quality products.
  • Manage project data files.
  • Attend company and project meetings as directed.
  • Assist with business development efforts.
  • Adhere to Horrocks policies to uphold a safe and efficient environment.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • P.E. license in Utah or ability to obtain Utah P.E. license through reciprocity.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Transportation design and engineering.
  • Proficient with Microstation/Open Roads Designer.
  • Ability to lead the preparation of design reports and construction drawings for transit projects.
  • Time management skills to prioritize work to meet various project requests and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues and clients, both in-person and virtually/remotely.
