Custom Home Estimator

A well-established custom residential home builder in the Fort Worth, Texas area is seeking an experienced Custom Home Estimator to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction estimator who understands the details behind building high-quality custom homes and enjoys working collaboratively with sales, construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors.

The Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate project estimates and budgets from architectural plans and specifications, gathering and analyzing subcontractor and vendor pricing, identifying value-engineering opportunities, and supporting the sales team as prospective custom homes move toward contract.

This is an in-office position (8:00AM-5:00PM) in the Aledo/Fort Worth area and is best suited for someone who enjoys being part of a close-knit, collaborative team.

What You'll Do

  • Develop estimates using Microsoft Excel, including detailed pricing and budget analysis
  • Partner closely with the sales team to prepare accurate pricing for prospective custom home projects
  • Solicit, review, and compare pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Maintain current knowledge of construction costs, labor rates, material pricing, and market conditions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners
  • Identify value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and design intent
  • Assist with project budgeting and provide financial analysis throughout the pre-construction process
  • Review estimates and budgets with sales, construction, and leadership teams
  • Prepare detailed documentation to support proposals and contracts
  • Provide estimating and pricing assistance for change orders
  • Help ensure estimates are completed accurately and within required timelines
  • Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to verify scope, specifications, and pricing
  • Support a smooth transition from estimating and sales into construction once a project is contracted
What We're Looking For
  • 35+ years of construction estimating experience strongly preferred
  • Experience estimating custom homes, luxury residential construction, residential homebuilding, or high-end residential projects
  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, labor, subcontractor scopes, and project costs

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with an understanding of construction budgets and job costs
  • Experience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and vendor bids
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to estimating accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with sales, construction, vendors, subcontractors, and leadership
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while contributing to a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Custom Home Estimator, Residential Construction Estimator, Preconstruction Estimator, Homebuilding Estimator, or Construction Estimator
  • Experience estimating homes in the Fort Worth, Aledo, Weatherford, Parker County, or greater DFW market
  • Existing knowledge of local subcontractors, suppliers, labor rates, and residential construction costs
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field; equivalent construction experience will also be considered
  • Experience using residential construction management or estimating software

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This builder has developed a strong reputation for high-quality custom residential construction and places significant value on long-term relationships with homeowners, employees, subcontractors, and vendors.

You'll work closely with an experienced team in an environment where estimating is viewed as an important part of the entire homebuilding process, not simply a back-office function.

The ideal candidate will take pride in producing accurate work, protecting project profitability, helping sales move opportunities forward, and contributing to homes that are built to a high standard.
