Position Summary
The University of New Mexico (UNM)School of Medicine Department of Dermatology in Albuquerque seeks a qualified enthusiastic individual for afull-time academic faculty position as a Pediatric Dermatologist.
Weserve a large, truly diverse, and medically complex patient population. As theonly academic health center/flagship institution for the entire state, we arethe consultative resource for Dermatology in New Mexico (population 2.1million) and also serve the Four Corners region of the Southwest. Ourpopulation is uniquely multicultural and multilingual, with 22 American Indiantribes and nations (11-12% census population as of 2021) as well as vibrantHispanic/Latinx (50%), African American (3%), and Asian American (2%)communities.
Dueto low numbers of practicing specialists in rural areas, our faculty andtrainees see the entire spectrum of clinical dermatology, including but notlimited to: general and pediatric dermatology, Mohs surgery/cutaneous oncology,dermatopathology, aesthetics, and complex inpatient/medical dermatology. Ourmain UNM Hospital clinical site offers phototherapy and lasers, and theDepartment/training program has a strong partnership with the local VA MedicalCenter as well. OurChair is currently the only fellowship-trained pediatric dermatologist in thestate, so the opportunities for a (junior) faculty to gain extensive experiencequickly and effectively, while being mentored and meaningfully contributing tocare for children in this region, is truly extraordinary.
Atthe UNM Department of Dermatology, we pride ourselves in our excellence andcommitment to all mission areas, training residents to practice at theirhighest level and offering robust clinical exposure, high-qualityeducation/professional development, research opportunities and a longstandingdedication to community engagement and diversity/equity/inclusivity andbelonging. The ACGME-accredited residency program is currently allotted 3residents/year, supervised by approximately 10 faculty, including UNM-based,VAMC and Dermatopathology.
The UNM School of Medicine actively engages in educational innovation initiatives towards improving equity and inclusion in the physician workforce. As such, preferable candidate attributes include:

Additional training and expertise (such as in Dermatopathology, Internal Medicine-Dermatology or Mohs surgery) would also be welcome. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
-Medical Doctor or equivalent
-Board eligible or certified in Dermatology
-Board eligible or certified in Pediatric Dermatology
-One year fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology
-Eligible for medical licensure in NM
-Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification and federal DEA registration
-Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
