Job description

Position Summary

We are looking for a Deputy Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of software implementation projects. In this role, you will partner closely with the Senior Project Manager and collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product management, business analysis, development, and quality assurance—to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within scope and budget, and meet defined quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and managing project teams through task definition and work requirement identification and assignment.
  • Support the development of detailed project plans to monitor and track progress, ensuring adherence to timeline, budget, and quality standards.
  • Assist in managing changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Assist in implementing and verifying compliance with change management procedures, expediting client approved Change Orders in response to changes to baseline schedules and budgets.
  • Register proposed changes, accurately costing and scheduling changes, and updating current schedules and budgets for approved changes.
  • Support planning and/or implementation of projects, participating in design and/or testing phases as needed.
  • Facilitate the definition of project missions, goals, tasks, and resource requirements; assist in resolving conflicts within and between projects or functional areas; develop methods to monitor project progress; and provide corrective supervision if necessary.
  • Assist in assembling the project staff, supporting their technical or functional development, performance, and/or termination during the project.
  • Monitor, track, and report on progress of project resources.
  • Assist in managing project budget and resource allocation.
  • Assign tasks and identify issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness.
  • Facilitate the definition of service levels and customer requirements, interacting regularly with clients to determine their needs and develop plans for improving delivery.
  • Follow a defined, agreed-upon project management methodology.
  • Support in presenting oral and written reports defining plans, problems, and resolutions to appropriate levels of management.
  • Assist in performing risk management to minimize project risks and maintain risk registers for all projects.

Educational/Training and Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or another related field (Required).
  • Two (2) years of project management experience
  • PMP Preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in Justice, Public Safety or Public Sector.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Must be able to work in the Eastern time zone.
