Eddins Counseling Group (ECG) in Central Houston, TX is an established, outpatient group practice in Houston Heights and Montrose neighborhoods. Join us in our mission to provide caring and quality mental health services in our community. We offer counseling services for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. We are looking for growth-oriented professionals who are looking to make a difference in health care. (Location - Houston Heights/Montrose - Hybrid)

Role Overview:

We are seeking fully licensed or associate licensed, experienced mental health providers with daytime, evening and/or weekend availability. We are looking for someone with a passion for counseling and a desire to be part of a supportive team. Friendly clinicians who are passionate about what they do, with an interest in growing clientele and being part of an integrated team.

We are currently seeking therapists who can commit to at least 15-25 clinical hours per week or a caseload of 25 clients per week. We are looking for someone to join our team and play an integral role in our collaborative environment.

We are looking for therapists who can see diverse client populations and presenting issues. Specific training/certification in a particular niche preferred (i.e.., trauma, play therapy, EFT, Gottman, etc.) Please indicate experience/training with specific populations. Plenty of additional training and support opportunities are available. Clinical supervision is also available.

Must be licensed in the state of Texas and have expertise working with clients over multiple therapy sessions through completion of treatment goals.

Key Responsibilities:


Providing Therapy/Counseling:

  • Conduct individual, couples, family, child or group therapy sessions to address clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral issues.
  • Utilize various therapeutic approaches and techniques tailored to clients' needs and goals.
  • Help clients develop coping strategies, insight, and skills to manage their challenges and improve their well-being
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all client interactions

Assessment and Diagnosis:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand clients' presenting concerns, history, strength, and needs
  • Use diagnostic tools and criteria to formulate diagnoses when appropriate
  • Collaborate with clients to develop treatment plans based on assessment findings and mutual goals


Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress reports, or any other relevant correspondence
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding confidentiality, record-keeping, and informed consent

Collaboration and Referrals:

  • Collaborate with other mental health professionals, health care providers, and support services to coordinate comprehensive care for clients
  • Make referrals to specialists or community resources as needed to address clients specific needs beyond the scope of therapy


Continuing Education and Professional Development:

  • Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in the field of mental health counseling or therapy
  • Pursue ongoing training, certifications, or licensure to enhance clinical skills and maintain licensure requirements

Qualifications:

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social work or related field from accredited institution
  • Licensure or certification as a therapist or counselor
  • Strong interpersonal skills and empathy to build rapport with clients
  • Strong motivation to learn
  • Providing evidence-based counseling to children, teens, parents, couples, or adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, or experience with treatment approaches
  • Experience with EDMR and family trauma
  • Create a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (Assessments, documentation, collaboration with other professionals)
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Ethical integrity and adherence to professional codes of conduct and legal regulations governing mental health

Transition Period
At Eddins Counseling Group, we recognize that transitioning into a new professional role takes time and support. As part of becoming a fully licensed therapist/counselor with our team, there will be a structured transition period. This period is designed to help you adjust to our systems and processes, become familiar with our practice's standards, and build your client caseload in alignment with your availability and professional goals in a private practice setting.


We aim to support you in:

  1. Getting Up to Speed: Providing necessary training and resources to ensure comfort and confidence in using our tools and processes.
  2. Building Your Client Caseload: Assisting in filling your schedule with clients that align with your expertise and preferences over time.
  3. Adjusting Availability: Helping you manage your work hours to balance the needs of the practice and clients.
  4. Autonomy Development: Gradually empowering you with full access to our systems as you gain familiarity.
  5. Transition from Prior Roles: Offering flexibility and guidance to help ease the shift from your previous employment to our practice.
