Position Overview
The Biology Department is inviting applications for part-time instructor positions. We encourage candidates who are qualified to teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses to apply.
We are particularly interested in adjunct faculty who are dedicated to teaching and engaging with our diverse student body, offering courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as needed.
Essential Duties
  • Teach in-person introductory biology courses as required

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Biology or a related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate instruction and to mentoring student researchers

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching introductory biology lecture and laboratory.
  • Experience with nontraditional students and with an ethnically-diverse student population.

Environmental Conditions
Teaching/instruction is performed in a traditional classroom setting.

  • Appointment is contingent upon receipt of an acceptable background screening conducted once selected for the position
  • UNION ELIGIBILITY: Adjuncts become eligible to join the RIC/AFT Adjunct Union if they complete 6 load hours (excludes applied music) within the two previous consecutive years.
    • Payment is made once a month; applicable taxes are withheld.
  • There are no fringe benefits with this position.
  • Upon hire, candidate will be required to provide an official transcript of highest degree earned.
