Dentistry Per information

What is a dentistry per?

Dentistry Per professionals, often referred to as dentists, are healthcare practitioners who specialize in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases and conditions of the oral cavity. They perform tasks such as dental examinations, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and other procedures to maintain oral health. Dentists also educate patients on proper oral hygiene and may provide cosmetic dental services. Their work is essential for preventing oral diseases and improving overall well-being.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a dentist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Dentist, you need a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree, a state license, and strong knowledge of dental procedures and oral health. Familiarity with dental imaging technology, practice management software, and sterilization systems is essential. Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, patient communication, and empathy help build trust and ensure effective treatment. These skills are vital for delivering safe, high-quality dental care and fostering positive patient experiences.

What are some common challenges dentists face when managing patient anxiety, and how can they address these issues effectively?

Dentists often encounter patients who experience significant anxiety or fear about dental procedures. Managing this challenge requires strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to explain procedures clearly to help build trust. Many dentists use techniques such as gentle reassurance, distraction methods, and, when appropriate, sedation or relaxation techniques. Working closely with dental assistants and hygienists as a team can also help create a more comforting environment, ensuring the patient's experience is as positive as possible.

Job description

Per Diem Dentist

Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Per Diem Dentist to join the Community Health Centers (CHCs). In this role, you will provide high-quality dental care to adult and pediatric patients while supporting vacation and paid time off (PTO) coverage at four clinic locations throughout Riverside County, including Jurupa Valley, Perris, Corona, and Palm Springs.

The Dentist – Per Diem is an advanced journey-level classification that reports to a manager- or director-level position. This position provides dental services on a part-time, as-needed basis within RUHS Community Health Centers, which are busy primary care clinics offering integrated on-site dental services.

RUHS dentists typically treat approximately 20 patients per day and are supported by a dedicated clinical team consisting of one Dental Assistant, one Registered Dental Assistant, and three fully equipped operatories, allowing providers to deliver efficient, patient-centered care. Depending on operational needs, per diem dentists may also supervise and provide clinical instruction to residents, interns, and dental students.

The ideal candidate is a skilled, adaptable, and patient-focused dentist with experience treating both adult and pediatric populations. Successful candidates will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced clinical environment and demonstrate a commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to the diverse communities served by RUHS.

This is a per diem position with a flexible, as-needed schedule. While this position primarily provides vacation and PTO coverage, regular assignments at specific clinic locations may also be available. Per diem employees receive additional compensation in lieu of County fringe benefits.

Riverside University Health System provides a wide range of primary and specialty care services across 13 Community Health Centers (CHCs) throughout Riverside County. As federally qualified health centers, the CHCs operate on a sliding fee scale to ensure that some of the county's most vulnerable populations receive the care they need.

Whether it's preventive care, chronic disease management, Express Care, Mobile Health, or integrated specialty and behavioral health services, our teams are made up of dedicated healthcare professionals who are passionate about making a difference.

If you're committed to delivering compassionate care and eager to join a team that truly values community, connection, and making a meaningful difference, RUHS is the place for you!
