Job description

We are looking for an experienced Ortho Billing Manager to join our Team!

About Us

Children's Dental FunZone is a growing pediatric dental group with locations across Southern California, dedicated to providing a fun, welcoming, and clinically excellent dental experience for kids and families. Behind every great patient visit is a strong operations team and we're looking for a Dental Billing Manager to lead that effort for our organization.

About the Role

The Dental Billing Manager will oversee the full revenue cycle across our network of offices from claims submission and insurance follow-up to payment posting, denial management, and accounts receivable. This role is responsible for building a high-performing billing team, standardizing processes across locations, and ensuring accurate, timely reimbursement so our offices can focus on patient care.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee billing operations, including claims submission, eligibility verification, and payment posting
Manage and reduce aging report; lead denial and appeal management to recover outstanding balances
Supervise, train, and develop a team of billing coordinators; oversee performance and coaching
Standardize billing workflows and documentation practices to ensure consistency and compliance
Monitor key revenue cycle metrics (days in AR, denial rates, collection rates) and report trends
Stay current on dental insurance plans, Medicaid/Denti-Cal, CDT coding updates, and payer policy changes
Partner with Managers to resolve patient billing questions and improve point-of-service collections
Audit claims and postings for accuracy; identify and correct root causes of recurring errors
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex claims, payer disputes, and audits

Requirements
3+ years of dental billing experience, including 1+ years in a supervisory or management capacity
Experience in a multi-location or DSO/MSO dental environment
Knowledge of Medicaid/Denti-cal, dental insurance processes, CDT codes, and claims/appeals workflows
Experience with billing/reporting tools such as Excel or practice analytics dashboards
Experience with dental practice management software Dentrix Ascend
Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage billing operations
Strong leadership and communication skills; experience training and developing a team
High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and compliance
