This position would report to the Maintenance Superintendent of the Sheet Metal Shop which is part of the Facility Maintenance Department. This position is a classified position and would be responsible for roof maintenance; clean and minor repairs of roofs, gutters, downspouts and drains. This position can also be assigned to work on carpentry and maintenance projects as needed. This position also has the added responsibility of working with and directing Maintenance Repairer 1 positions (if needed). The understanding and safe operation of large man-lift equipment is also required for this job.

Job Responsibilities:

30% - Check buildings for rain leaks. Cleans and makes minor repairs to roofs. Clean gutters and downspouts. Makes minor repairs to gutters and downspouts. Clean roof drains and make minor repairs to roof drain covers.

30% - Work as a Sheet Metal helper. Assist in fabricates and install roof flashing. Clean and repair metal roofs. Helps fabricate and install gutters and metal awnings, downspouts, conductor heads, exhaust grilles and duct. Help fabricate and install pans for air handlers, machine guards for air handling equipment and louvers on buildings.

15% - Work as a Carpenter helper. Assist in repairing and installing floors, doors, walls and ceiling. Repair fences, perform demolition, haul materials to jobsites, and clean up construction debris.

10% - Work as a Painter/Plasterer helper. Assist in repairing all types of plaster; demolition, haul materials and clean up. Paint surfaces as needed.

5% - Operates heavy equipment & machinery (such as large man-lifts, scissor-lifts, fork-lifts, & large trucks with trailers).

5% - Provides guidance, assistance, and support to Maintenance Repairer 1 employees when required.

5% - Perform other related duties as required including emergency work when required. This position is an essential employee.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Special or Physical Qualifications:

  • This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

  • This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

  • This position is considered emergency essential and may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.

  • This position will require a physical evaluation based on the physical demands required.
