One Hat One Hand is a design and fabrication company specializing in architectural

placemaking, large-scale public art, product prototyping and experiential design.

Our team of designers, fabricators, artists, welders & technologists work with artisans and

builders to create large-scale placemaking features, art fabrication and specialty installations.

Overview:

The Shop Assistant is an entry-level, project-based role designed to support both our

Facilities and Fabrication teams. This role is ideal for someone eager to develop hands-on

experience in a creative fabrication environment, with opportunities to grow into more

advanced roles over time.


You'll help keep our shop running smoothly, assist with day-to-day logistics, and support a

wide variety of internal and client-facing projects-from construction and installations to

general shop maintenance.


Position in Organization:

  • Reports To: Production Manager

Primary Responsibilities:

Fabrication Assistance

  • Assist Fabricators / Installers as needed with hands-on work, prep, and clean-up
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace

Facilities Support

  • Assist with shop infrastructure projects, light construction, demolition, andgeneral building maintenance
  • Perform inventory checks and assist with tool check-out and return
  • Support dump runs and materials recycling

Project Logistics Support

  • Act as a runner for pick-ups, drop-offs, and material sourcing
  • Help load and unload trucks for installations

Team Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with team leads to support changing project needs
  • Uphold safety protocols and contribute to a positive, solution-oriented environment


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Basic understanding ofhand tools and power tools
  • Some experience or education in construction, fabrication, or a related field
  • Valid Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Comfortable drivingbox trucks, forklifts, and other vehicles (training provided as needed)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take direction and work independently
  • Smartphone with reliable access to calls, texts, and internal communication tools
