Voter Registration Canvass Lead

 

Voter Education Project

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Job Type: Temporary, Contract

Experience: Entry-Level, 1-2 Cycles

Compensation: Salary of $3,500/month

 

Position Overview

The Voter Registration Canvass Lead will be responsible for managing a team of canvassers in their daily voter registration outreach efforts. This includes overseeing canvassing operations, tracking performance metrics, and troubleshooting issues. As a key figure in this initiative, you will play an essential role in ensuring that the team achieves its voter registration goals and contributes to strengthening democratic participation in Philadelphia.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Management: Supervise a small team of canvassers, providing daily direction and support. Ensure the team meets voter registration and engagement goals.
  • Scheduling & Attendance: Work with the Regional Voter Registration Manager to coordinate shifts for your team. Ensure canvassers are present and accountable for each scheduled shift.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor canvassers' performance, including the number of doors knocked and voters engaged. Ensure data is accurately logged using canvassing tools like MiniVAN.
  • Field Troubleshooting: Address any issues faced by canvassers in the field, escalating challenges when necessary.
  • Reporting: Provide daily updates to the Regional Manager on your team’s progress and any challenges encountered.
  • Voter Engagement: Lead efforts in engaging the public through voter registration drives, educating them on deadlines, eligibility, and requirements.
  • Data Management: Ensure all voter registration information is accurately recorded and submitted using canvassing applications.
 

Qualifications

  • At least 1-2 cycles of political canvassing or similar grassroots organizing experience. Experience in voter registration initiatives is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a small team in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage the public effectively.
  • Familiarity with voter engagement tools and canvassing software (MiniVAN experience preferred, but not required).
  • A results-driven mindset focused on meeting voter registration targets.
  • Passionate about empowering communities through voter registration.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
