About this Role

Energy Impact Partners is seeking an Associate to join its Research & Innovation group, which serves as the strategic platform bridging the firm’s investment teams, corporate partners, and portfolio companies. This position will focus on the energy demand sector, covering topics such as AI infrastructure and data centers, real estate decarbonization, and utility customer solutions and operations. The Associate will support the development of deep market insight and apply that insight to help corporate partners drive meaningful innovation in their business, accelerate commercialization for portfolio companies, and support investment deal flow. This is an opportunity to work at the nexus of technology innovators and established energy incumbents to accelerate change within the industry. The ideal candidate will be an insatiably curious, analytically minded market researcher capable of managing multiple workstreams and drawing insights across an ecosystem spanning technical founders, startup commercial leaders, corporate innovation leads, and corporate finance professionals. This position is based in person at the firm’s Atlanta office.

Responsibilities
  • Generate sector research and insight by supporting market analysis on a wide variety of topics and synthesizing industry research and data from diverse sources to generate unique, unavailable insights
  • Develop market landscapes for investable target companies
  • Identify the transformational impact that emerging technology might have on strategic partners’ businesses
  • Perform fundamental modelling of technology and market pathways to adoption
  • Support and lead working groups of subject matter experts and operational leaders from the strategic partner consortium
  • Work hand in hand with partners on building business cases and deployment pathways for transformational technology
  • Support corporate venture capital teams on investment opportunities in EIP portfolio companies and deal flow
  • Present and publish unique insights to share EIP’s views both within and outside of the immediate ecosystem
  • Develop credibility as a trusted internal advisor on key trends and markets
  • Collaborate with investment teams to source deal opportunities and build conviction in investment decisions
  • Share actionable insight with portfolio companies on market dynamics and opportunities
  • Support portfolio companies by advising on product development roadmaps and go-to-market strategy
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience in market analysis, management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or other relevant fields
  • Proficient level of understanding of the utility industry and challenges facing both energy suppliers and customers, such as power capacity bottlenecks, lengthy timelines to power for large loads, and rising electricity rates for residential and commercial customers
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering field preferred (finance, electrical engineering, management, economics, mechanical engineering)
  • Prior experience or demonstrated interest in the energy or climate tech sector
  • Excellent analytical skills and capability to assess complex business cases
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple competing priorities in fast paced environment with limited oversight
  • Strong detail orientation and commitment to accuracy
  • An independent mindset and intellectual curiosity
  • A proven track record of working effectively on a team and being a good teammate
