Job description

Our AI & Engineering team helps organizations transform technology platforms, accelerate innovation, and solve complex business and mission challenges. In this role, you will support a US Government Client by helping build secure, production-ready applications and engineering processes in a classified environment. You will work across development, security, and deployment activities to improve delivery speed, strengthen security assurance, and support mission outcomes.
Work you'll do
As a Software Engineer III on the AI & Engineering team, you will be responsible for...
  • Design, build, and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines that integrate automated testing and security reviews.
  • Establish and enforce application hardening standards across scripts, automations, and AI-enabled web applications.
  • Lead security reviews for new development work and prepare Authorization to Operate-ready artifacts, including system security plan sections, control evidence, and Plan of Actions and Milestones inputs.
  • Integrate artificial intelligence-assisted development and testing tools into team workflows and maintain secure coding standards across Python, HTML/CSS, .NET, and PowerShell.
  • Support development and production environments, monitor security events, and drive remediation activities through closure.

The team
Deloitte's Government & Public Services practice brings together people, ideas, technology, and outcomes to help federal, state, and local government clients and public higher education institutions address complex challenges and advance their missions.
Within that practice, our Engineering as a Service offering provides end-to-end design, implementation, and technology operations support. We help organizations modernize technology, transform engineering teams, and deliver complex programs through flexible delivery models tailored to client needs.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of experience in application development, test-driven development, software development life cycle (SDLC) activities, and continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline implementation
  • 4+ years of experience in Python
  • 4+ years of experience in security operations
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance
  • Ability to travel 10-25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Preferred:
  • Experience supporting Authorization to Operate processes in classified or regulated environments
  • Experience producing system security plan sections, control evidence, and Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) inputs
  • Experience conducting secure code reviews across Python, HTML/CSS, .NET, or PowerShell
  • Experience integrating artificial intelligence-assisted development tools into software engineering workflows
  • Experience monitoring production environments and responding to security findings
  • Experience applying Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP) Top 10 mitigations in application development
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Maryland, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to Maryland and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $119,000 to $198,400.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
