Job description

Route Sales Driver

Company: Basic Diamond
Position: Route Sales Driver
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Utah
Schedule: Monday–Friday

Position Overview:

Basic Diamond is looking for a motivated, dependable, and sales-driven Route Sales Driver to join our team.

This is more than a delivery position. Our Route Sales Drivers are responsible for managing and growing an assigned sales territory, building strong relationships with customers, delivering products, identifying sales opportunities, and providing excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate is outgoing, organized, competitive, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently. You should enjoy talking with customers, solving problems, and finding opportunities to grow sales while keeping your route organized and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive an assigned daily sales and delivery route.
  • Visit existing customers consistently and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Prospect for new customers and identify opportunities to grow the assigned territory.
  • Present and sell Basic Diamond products to countertop fabricators, installers, shops, and other customers.
  • Learn our products and confidently make recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell products.
  • Take customer orders and ensure orders are entered accurately.
  • Deliver products safely, accurately, and on time.
  • Follow the assigned route and daily schedule.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding products, orders, pricing, and availability.
  • Follow up on outstanding customer balances and assist with collecting payments when required.
  • Maintain accurate inventory in the assigned sales vehicle.
  • Keep the company vehicle clean, organized, and properly stocked.
  • Report low inventory, damaged products, customer concerns, and route issues promptly.
  • Communicate customer feedback and potential sales opportunities to management.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer visits, sales activity, orders, and payments.
  • Attend required sales meetings, training, and product education.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and driving requirements.

Sales Expectations:

This position requires someone who actively sells, not someone who simply delivers orders.

Route Sales Drivers are expected to:

  • Build relationships with decision-makers.
  • Understand what each customer purchases and identify additional opportunities.
  • Introduce customers to new products.
  • Follow up consistently with customers.
  • Look for opportunities to increase each account's monthly sales.
  • Develop new accounts within the assigned territory.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of customer needs and purchasing habits.
  • Meet established sales, route, and customer-visit goals.
  • Take ownership of the overall performance of the assigned territory.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sales-minded and comfortable talking with customers.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Highly organized and able to manage a daily route efficiently.
  • Comfortable using mobile apps and technology for orders, customer information, and route management.
  • Ability to learn product information quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer needs throughout the day.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely lift and move products associated with deliveries.

Experience in outside sales, route sales, construction supplies, countertop fabrication, stone, tools, equipment, or building materials is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.

The Person Who Will Succeed Here

We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their territory.

You don't wait for customers to call—you build relationships, check in with them, learn what they need, and find opportunities to earn their business.

You understand that a successful route is built through consistency, reliability, product knowledge, customer service, and sales.

We value employees who are hungry to grow, competitive, accountable, and willing to put in the effort to build a successful territory.

Why Join Basic Diamond?

At Basic Diamond, you'll have the opportunity to build long-term relationships with customers while developing valuable experience in outside sales and territory management.

We provide the products, systems, training, and customer base—you bring the drive to grow it.

If you're dependable, competitive, enjoy working with people, and want a position where your performance can directly impact your earning potential, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today to join the Basic Diamond team as a Route Sales Driver.
