Some delivery driver jobs require you to own your own vehicle to use on the job. These positions may involve transporting food or packages or providing courier services. A food or package delivery driver can work for one restaurant or online retailer, or they can deliver items for various businesses by joining the database of drivers for a third-party service. Specific job duties vary, depending on the company, but you are generally responsible for loading and unloading the goods, documenting items picked up and dropped off, and answering customer questions when necessary. In this role, you may be a staff driver or independent contractor; your employer may have you drive a set delivery route or work on an on-call basis.
