Job description

Assistant Delivery Manager Position Summary The Assistant Delivery Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of daily delivery operations to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality service. This role assists in leading delivery staff, monitoring routes and performance, ensuring compliance with safety and DOT regulations, and resolving escalated customer and operational issues. The position contributes to operational efficiency, team development, and customer satisfaction within the final mile delivery function.

Job Duties

Assist in planning and coordinating daily delivery schedules to ensure timely and accurate service. Monitor delivery routes and address any delays or issues promptly. Support the Final Mile Director in leading and motivating delivery drivers and staff. Ensure team compliance with company policies, safety standards, and customer service expectations. Handle escalated customer inquiries and resolve delivery-related issues professionally. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.

Verify that deliveries meet company standards for accuracy and condition. Conduct spot checks on vehicles and equipment to ensure proper maintenance. Assist with tracking deliveries, returns, and inventory movement. Maintain accurate records of delivery performance and incidents. Help onboard and train new delivery staff on procedures and safety protocols. Provide ongoing coaching to improve efficiency and service quality. Ensure adherence to DOT regulations and company safety guidelines.

Report and address any safety hazards or compliance issues immediately. Track KPIs such as on-time delivery rates and customer feedback. Provide input for process improvements and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent, required. College degree, preferred.

Experience:

2+ years in DC or warehouse leadership role, preferred. Physical and Work Environment Requirements Physical Demands: Able to lift and maneuver furniture up to 150+ lbs. with assistance.
