Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring an active AK RN license and 2 years of L&D experience for a night shift assignment.

Details
  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
  • Every team member works an equitable number of weekend shifts per schedule period
  • Floating required 0-3 times per month, limited to helping hands, sitter/camera watching, or CNA-type work within OB
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Charting system experience required (any system)
Requirements
  • Active AK RN license required, pending license accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, LDRP experience preferred
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP
  • AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
  • EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring) certification accepted as Intermediate AWHONN or Relias/Gnosis
  • Skilled in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, and hemorrhage/shock management
  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Neonatal care skills including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and newborn assessment
  • Experience with fetal monitoring including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and IUPC placement
  • Epic EMR experience preferred (1 year)

  • Provide direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Document patient care according to established healthcare record standards
  • Direct and delegate care to team members based on their education, credentials, and competence
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team including patients and families
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are not accepted within a 60-mile radius of the facility
  • Previous employees of the health system must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Candidates with more than one DUI are not eligible for consideration
  • Start date may be delayed up to 8 weeks if AK license is pending
