Laborer
USA Waste and Recycling
Position Summary:
The Laborer position is responsible for safely and efficiently performing general labor duties at a hauling company, transfer station, recycling center, or landfill. This position will also be responsible for other duties such as yard clean-up, fueling vehicles and equipment, general vehicle operation, and general office maintenance.
Your Role:
  • Help with collection routes.
  • Clean all on-site equipment and carts.
  • Perform yard work, including mowing and trash removal.
  • Operate general site equipment.
  • Perform general office maintenance and repairs, including painting and janitorial work.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime and rotating shifts from the scheduled start to the scheduled end time.
  • Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.
  • Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
  • Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.

Your Skills:
  • Ability to complete safety, operational, and other required training within a scheduled period.
  • Communication skills sufficient for the required job functions
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills sufficient to complete routine tasks.
  • Demonstrated success in the use of required safety equipment.

Desirable requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months of related experience in an industrial environment
  • Two years of experience in an industrial environment as a Material handler or comparable position is preferred.
  • The environment is fast-paced, and the person in this role must be proactive, hardworking, highly organized, and an independent critical thinker.
