Position: Class 5 Driver (Driver In Training - D.I.T ) - Delta

Schedule: 4 X 10 | Floater | Night Shift(5pm start)

Position Overview

The Class 5 Delivery Driver (Driver in Training) will work with the Transportation Lead Trainer to learn all aspects and responsibilities of the role, including, but not limited to customer service, pre / post trip, safety and company policies, procedures and practices. In addition, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience to become a Class 1 Local Delivery Driver. The selected candidate will be expected to obtain their Learners class 1 license after 3 months of service in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities - Class 5 (Driver in Training)

This position will provide opportunities to learn the correct offloading of product from the vehicle, recording of delivery information, accepting payment (no cash) for goods when required, and ensuring overall vehicle safety. Upon completion of the training program, the Class 5 Delivery Driver will be expected to operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner at all times, obeying all rules of the road, and follow all appropriate company policies and procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Valid Class 5 license or higher with a clean driver's abstract is required

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds frequently

  • Must be willing to obtain Class 1 Learners and Air Brakes Certification

  • Eligibility for bonding based on the results of a criminal record check

  • Strong customer service skills

  • High level of personal integrity and strong work ethic

  • Professional demeanour under stressful situations

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision; must be self-directed

  • Availability on weekends and holidays.
