Description
The Deli Department Manager will direct, promote, and coordinate with the deli team in a manner that will optimize the cooperative's market share and savings, improve the cooperative's efficiency, help achieve the cooperative's mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve customers throughout the store while modeling a service-oriented culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, and thanking every guest for their business.
  • Schedule for the daily operation of the department to provide high-level customer service in accordance with the outlined labor budget.
  • Ensure staff has the proper Serv Safe certification as needed.
  • Follow all Serve Safe guidelines in reference to safe food handling for food service offerings. This will include ordering and receiving food service supplies, inventory, scheduling/monitoring food service production, labeling and monitoring levels.
  • Process all invoices in a timely manner and maintain accurate pricing.
  • Maintain adequate inventories by ordering from approved vendors as needed.
  • Complete monthly inventories per company guidelines.
  • Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making recommendations and promoting products through suggestive selling.
  • Ensure that the Deli department is always full and fresh with the best quality products.
  • Walk department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times.
  • Assist to create attractive department displays and end caps based on specific sales for the week.
  • Use all equipment in the deli including refrigerators, slicers, freezers, ovens, stoves, mixers, etc. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures.
  • Follow directives from the Administrative office and branded supplier regarding brand policies, programs, and promotions.
  • Reports to work at the assigned/scheduled time and may be required to fill in as needed in other customer facing roles.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Required:
  • Previous manager role experience a plus.
  • Leadership and organizational
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve store goals.
  • Serv-Safe Food Safety Certification
  • Experience in inventory control procedures to ensure accurate stock levels.
  • Proficiency in managing daily store operations, including opening/closing procedures.

Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Must be patient and helpful to exceed the customer's expectations.
  • Must possess knowledge of the Microsoft Suite including Excel, basic computer skills to operate scanners, registers, calculators, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with customers and staff, management and vendors.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to lift, twist, bend, stoop, squat, stand, reach, pull, push and lift overhead.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring standing up to 9 hours per day.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Position requires this candidate to work 40 hour per week in this full-time position.
  • Schedule includes weekends and holidays, flexibility is essential.
  • Smoke-free environment.
  • This position is primarily indoors but at times may be exposed to heat/cool outdoor temperatures as well as when entering coolers.
