About This Role
Annaly is seeking a Non-QM Mortgage Underwriter Vice President with significant Non-QM experience to join the Residential Credit team in Dallas, TX (or Remote). This candidate will focus on our Non-Delegated mortgage channel, managing our vendors and communicating with our vast network of sellers.
The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of relevant credit experience in Non-QM underwriting and/or scenario desk experience. In addition, they should have the ability to make credit decisions/help assist the Onslow Bay contract underwriters, closely interact with our correspondent partners and monitor market underwriting guidelines.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Onslow Bay and third-party diligence providers
  • Review diligence findings for completeness, accuracy, and consistency
  • Resolve escalated conditions, credit exceptions, and guideline interpretation questions
  • Perform manual underwriting reviews and render credit decisions on Non-QM loan products, including Bank Statement, DSCR, Asset Utilization, Full Documentation, P&L, Etc.
  • Analyze borrower income, assets, credit, collateral and overall ability-to-repay
  • Identify layered risk and provide appropriate mitigating factors and justification
  • Issue final approval and Clear-to-Close decisions
  • Prioritize and manage high-priority and rush loan requests
  • Build strong relationships with sellers and provide excellent customer service and communication
  • Thorough understanding of condominium complex reviews with the ability to review condo questionnaires, financials, inspections, and various non-warrantable features ultimately to ascertain the level of risk for purchase.
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of relevant credit experience in Non-QM
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license preferred
  • Preference given to candidates that have a NY State MLO License

Desired Characteristics:
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and prioritize accordingly
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with Senior Management regarding the progress and results of projects and initiatives
  • Ability to underwrite Non-QM and Non-Agency loan products, including but not limited to Bank Statement Income Analysis, Asset Depletion, P&L, DSCR, Foreign National and Self-Employment
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints

  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Preference given to candidates with strong Condominium background
  • Preference given to candidates able to work in Dallas, TX (on-site three (3) days)
  • Remote work eligibility will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis
