ProSidian Seeks a Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF) Integrated Independent Evaluation (IIE) Specialist - Integration Management (EX100) [Procurement Services / Building 707-9B Rm11 / Aiken, SC 29858 | HIGH LEVEL - HR] located: Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina to provide BOA Support Services for multiple department requirement Service Areas (SA) for Savannah River Remediation LLC (The SRMC/LW Contractor) at the U.S. Department of Energy | Savannah River Site (DOE-SRS) in Aiken, SC to support the evolving needs of the organization.

JOB OVERVIEW:  Provide services and support as a Defense Waste Processing Facility (DWPF) Integrated Independent Evaluation (IIE) Specialist (EX100) at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  Provides a variety of subject matter expertise to an assigned functional area. Specific roles and responsibilities will be identified upon each solicitation. Furthermore, any additional education, experience or qualifications will also be conveyed in the solicitation.

  • Provide support for internal and external assessments, evaluations, audits or surveillances for the Self-Assessment Program.
  • Independent assessment services will be provided using Liquid Waste and Savannah River Site (SRS) processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by Liquid Waste.
  • Develop document and communicate the planning of all QA support functions through the project life cycle, to including, the determination of resources necessary to provide all QA support functions from Conceptual Design through turnover to Operations.
  • Incorporate conventional quality assurance engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as enhanced quality requirements, application or new or special requirements or processes and difficult coordination of oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning. Provide limited guidance and direction to less senior engineering professionals.
  • Carry out development of qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other phases such as design and fabrication to better evaluate and minimize future quality problems.
  • Develop alternative solution to existing problems. Perform all detail work necessary to determine best alternatives.
  • Support facility/project needs within assigned area by conducting reviews/ approvals in the areas such as procedures procurement documents, design output documents, etc.
  • Evaluate proposals and make recommendation based on proposed programs/tasks in area of assignment.
  • Plan, prepare, conduct, and reported on surveillance, assessment/monitoring of quality-related activities in assigned areas.
  • Coordinate corrective action responses to external assessments, audits, or surveillances.
  • Perform general Cognizant Quality Functions duties as the Subject Matter Expert including interpretation of Site, National, and DOE requirements and site procedures.
  • Review of selected Safety Class and Safety Significant engineering deliverables (e.g., Design Change Forms, Design Change Packages, Technical and procurement specifications, Supplier Deviation Disposition Requests, Quality Assessment Reports, Conceptual Design Reports, Software Quality Assurance Plans, etc.).
  • Review, issue, track, follow up, and closeout various deficiency documents, e.g., Program Deficiency Reports, Nonconformance Reports, Corrective Action Reports, and Stop Work Orders.
  • Functions to incorporate quality assurance practices designed to build total quality into project deliverables and mitigate quality issues that adversely impact project objectives.
  • Provide project QA guidance, compliance oversight, and subject matter expertise in ISM and quality assurance feedback and improvement process.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Skills / Abilities / Education / Experience Requirements / Qualifications

  • Specialized knowledge required varies with the particular independent assessment technical assignment. Knowledge of such activities as analytical chemistry, radiochemistry, conduct of operations, nuclear facility operations (HVAC and analytical process), environmental regulatory compliance, radioactive containment, fire protection, waste characterization, project management, quality assurance, and industrial safety and hygiene are typical areas in which the incumbent would need to demonstrate proficiency.
  • Knowledge in other areas, such as engineering design, maintenance management, and construction practices would also be beneficial. Extensive hands-on experience with computers and various types of software applications, knowledge of Savannah River Site administrative and business systems, and previous assignments in (for example) planning/project scheduling, information resources, or
  • procurement operations is highly desirable. Substantive management experience in these or a related field is preferred.
  • Additional specialized knowledge in the theory and application of assessment and audit techniques and practices is also required to accomplish successfully both routine and specialized tasks. Incumbents must have/gain skills in effective communications techniques, assessment planning, time management, conflict resolution, data collection, analysis, and report writing similar to that of a NQA-1 auditor or lead auditor.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are critical to this position.

Work Hours:  A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B).  Work week excludes SRS holidays. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.

Area Security Access: A security clearance is not required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, & Adobe)
