Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Technical Writer - Cybersecurity to support a leading federal systems integrator delivering enterprise cybersecurity and Zero Trust modernization solutions for government customers. The Technical Writer - Cybersecurity will be responsible for developing and maintaining highly structured technical documentation, including Technical Orders (TOs), installation plans, cybersecurity documentation, and operational procedures supporting mission-critical defense systems. This position is fully remote with occasional travel to New Jersey. Responsibilities of the Technical Writer - Cybersecurity include: Develop and maintain Technical Orders (TOs), Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs), TSIPs, and Installation Plans (I-Plans) Create and edit cybersecurity policies, SOPs, technical guides, and operational documentation Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and program teams to gather technical information and ensure documentation accuracy Support documentation efforts related to Zero Trust architecture initiatives and cybersecurity modernization programs Track and maintain documentation required for Authority to Operate (ATO) processes Review and improve existing technical documentation for compliance, clarity, and usability Create supporting visual content including diagrams, charts, network flows, and technical illustrations Manage document versioning, revisions, and updates across multiple concurrent deliverables Ensure all documentation complies with DoD standards, classification markings, and security handling procedures Support document management and operational readiness activities for enterprise cybersecurity programs Coordinate with stakeholders across technical and operational teams to ensure timely document delivery Qualifications for the Technical Writer - Cybersecurity include: Active Secret clearance required (interim Secret acceptable)
2+ years of technical writing experience within cybersecurity, IT, or defense environments Hands-on experience developing Technical Orders (TOs/TCTOs) Experience creating TSIPs (Telecommunication Survey Installation Plans) and I-Plans Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts and technical infrastructure documentation Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture concepts preferred Experience supporting DoD or military documentation initiatives Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems Ability to create clear, concise, and structured technical documentation Experience handling sensitive and classified information appropriately Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to manage multiple documentation workstreams and deadlines simultaneously Familiarity with eMASS and ATO documentation processes preferred Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field preferred Compensation for the Technical Writer - Cybersecurity includes: Hourly Rate: $50/hr - $55/hr * Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Paid Holidays, and 401(k) This job opens for applications on 5/29/2026.
