Job description

Summary: Mechanical Engineers are responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to creating, reviewing, and executing various engineering drawings and documents, performing calculations, reviewing the work of other engineers, writing reports and bid evaluations, ย create construction schedules and adjusting them based on construction conditions, ย perform field walkdowns, troubleshooting and problem solving, conduct field sketching and redline drawings, and monitoring daily construction activities etc. ย 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review Client's technical documents and requirements.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet project technical, schedule, cost and quality objectives.
  • Understand isometrics, P&ID, GA, plot plans, 2D CAD drawings and 3D models, specifically for architecture, mechanical engineering, and plumbing system.
  • Be familiar with process piping, plumbing, chemical piping, and gas piping fabrication and installation.
  • Review piping and electrical racks/supports' shop drawings and calculations.
  • Review, approve and oversee the installation of plumbing system.
  • Monitor daily construction activities, troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Understand industrial, mechanical, and plumbing (water supply and drainage, etc.).
  • Identify scope changes and develop change management documents.
  • Coordinate with Document Control, Quality, and Project Control teams to ensure all project deliverables are appropriately numbered, compiled, and available for turnover to meet all project deliverables.
  • Review documents, design reports, design calculations and drawings in accordance with engineering quality standards and client requirements.
  • Interpret all codes and maintain the overall performance of all structural activities.
  • Prepare work scope packages, project execution plans, quality plans, and CWP packages.
  • Manage engineering activities to ensure compliance with the project scope of work and quality objectives.
  • Coordinate with various engineering groups.
  • Prepare technical bid evaluations & tabulations.
  • Coordinate engineering requirements between the site and engineering offices.
  • Ensure construction conforms to drawings and specifications; ensure consistent construction practices are followed in all areas.
  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports to the site construction office, outlining items of concern such as safety report, non-conformance, materials and weather delays, site clean-up, congestion, infrastructure, manpower loading, quality control and potential contract extras, RFI logs, CR logs, etc.
  • Provide prompt responses to field requests (RFI's) from the construction team and contractors.
  • Report construction progress, manpower forecasts, and expenditure forecasts to client.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 2 -5 years of work experience in a commercial construction environment.
  • Experience in semiconductor construction, preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Understanding of process piping, plumbing, equipment, MAU, AHU, DCC equipment installation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to use engineering software, such as AutoCAD, Primavera, Revit, or others.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail, and highly organized.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities depending on project needs. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.
  • Ability to work in a construction site environment (trailer office).

Language Proficiency:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin, preferred

Nice to have:

  • Start-up experience.
  • Verbal communication skills in Mandarin.
  • Professional Engineer's License

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. May be required to travel to other sites within Arizona to perform certain work functions.
