Job description


CALIBRE Systems, Inc., an employee-owned mission focused solutions and digital transformation company, is seeking an Intern to support our Defense Division at our headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
This position is a hybrid role. This role offers hands-on exposure to the federal acquisition lifecycle, including opportunity identification, market research, competitive analysis, and proposal development. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and interested in learning how federal contracts are pursued and won.
Tasks include:
  • Research and assess possible business opportunities from financial, operational, and corporate alignment perspectives using industry tools such as SAM.gov, GovTribe, Bloomberg, and GovWin;
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research analysis, including addressable markets, agencies, spending trends, competitive positioning, and past performance;
  • Conduct research of Multiple Award Indefinite Quantity Indefinite Delivery contracts, and map existing task orders to CALIBRE capabilities to identify bid opportunities;
  • Perform selected deep dives of selected agencies and organizations to assist in identifying all aspects of related information around business opportunities;
  • Serve as a resource for Growth Operations personnel; work collaboratively with functional and subject matter leads to assess business problems, gather requirements, and conduct independent research;
  • Contribute to efficient operations by providing accurate data through development of common portals, analytic reports, templates, processes, and metric;
  • In progress of obtaining a degree from an accredited college/university;
  • Support data input and update for growth opportunity database;
  • Support market research including the creation and development of Request for Information reports and Sources Sought Notification;
  • Maintain and update trackers, CRM systems, and opportunity databases.

  • Familiarity with federal acquisition processes or government contracting
  • Experience using BD tools (e.g., GovWin, SAM.gov, FPDS, USAspending)
  • Basic understanding of healthcare systems, IT services, or financial management in the public sector
  • Data visualization or analysis skills (Excel advanced functions, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into concise summaries

Required Experience
  • Course work in areas of research and/or statistics and/or business strategy
  • Demonstrated abilities in market and competitive analysis;
  • Experience with federal government contracting;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Experience:
  • Prior internship or exposure to federal consulting, government, or public sector work
  • Experience supporting proposals, sales, or business development efforts
  • Academic or project work related to healthcare, information technology, or financial management
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Health, Public Policy, Health Administration, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field
