Controller – Government Contractor Engineering & Manufacturing

LBI is a growing engineering, R&D, and manufacturing company supporting government and defense-related programs. We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead financial operations, government contract compliance, and strategic financial management in a fast-paced technical manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with government contracting, cost accounting, manufacturing operations, and financial controls, along with the ability to work closely with executive leadership on strategic business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities
  • Manage monthly and annual financial close processes
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, DCAA, and government contract accounting requirements
  • Maintain and improve internal financial controls and accounting procedures
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions
  • Manage indirect rates, job costing, labor reporting, and contract profitability analysis
  • Coordinate annual audits, government audits, and tax filings
  • Develop financial dashboards and KPI reporting for management
  • Support pricing proposals, contract negotiations, and government bid submissions
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, manufacturing, and executive management teams
  • Assist with cash flow management, banking relationships, and strategic planning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of Controller or senior accounting leadership experience
  • Experience in government contracting, engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, naval, or defense industries strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of FAR, DCAA compliance, and cost accounting standards
  • Experience with inventory systems and manufacturing accounting
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information and operate in a highly professional environment

LB Fiberglass distributes a full line of composite products and equipment to for composite manufacturing, repair, coatings, etc. This includes all of the proprietary polymer products that LBI has developed for our DOD contracts over many years.
