What is a Deep Scribe?

A Deep Scribe job involves using AI-powered tools to assist healthcare providers by documenting patient visits in real-time. Deep Scribes listen to medical conversations and generate accurate, structured clinical notes. This helps doctors focus on patient care rather than manual note-taking. The role requires strong attention to detail, medical terminology knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Deep Scribe?

To thrive as a Deep Scribe, you need a strong grasp of medical terminology, attention to detail, and fast, accurate typing skills, often supported by some healthcare experience or relevant coursework. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and specialized medical scribing software, such as Epic or Cerner, is typically required. Exceptional listening skills, discretion, and the ability to work independently are valuable soft skills in this role. Mastering these abilities ensures accurate, timely documentation of patient encounters, helping healthcare providers deliver better care and maintain compliance.

What are some common challenges Deep Scribes face in their daily work?

Deep Scribes often work in fast-paced clinical environments, where they must accurately capture complex medical information in real-time while keeping up with quick patient appointments. They may encounter challenges related to medical jargon, unfamiliar cases, or adjusting to different providers' documentation styles. Staying focused, managing high volumes of patient charts, and protecting patient privacy are all important aspects of the job. Most Deep Scribes receive thorough training and ongoing support, but adapting quickly and being open to continual learning are keys to overcoming these challenges.

Is it hard to get hired as a deep scribe?

Getting hired as a deep scribe can be competitive, as it often requires strong medical transcription skills, familiarity with electronic health records, and sometimes prior healthcare experience. Candidates typically need to pass skills assessments and demonstrate attention to detail to secure the position.

Job description

TL;DR - Why This Role Matters
We're building something new. As an AI Solutions Engineer, you'll be an expert in Scribe's most complex and market-changing products, bridging the gap between closing the deal and delivering transformational outcomes.
You, in partnership with your AE and CSM team, will earn the trust of F1000 executives in a discovery call as a technical expert for Scribe's Workflow AI capabilities, designing groundbreaking solutions and communicating the art of the possible. Then you'll roll up your sleeves to configure and lead a Proof of Concept for those solutions in the morning.
You will be part of a brand new team and define how Scribe wins and delivers on its most strategic product, Scribe Optimize. You'll build the playbook from scratch, work shoulder-to-shoulder with our Sales, CS, and Product teams, and leave your fingerprints on the way the company scales.
About the Role
As an AI Solutions Engineer at Scribe, you will:
  • Own the technical layer of enterprise deals, partnering closely with Account Executives from discovery through close - running tailored Optimize demos, leading POC planning sessions, and designing proof of concepts that tie Scribe's Workflow AI capabilities to measurable customer outcomes.
  • Execute Scribe Optimize POCs, ensuring prospects see immediate value.
  • Build and communicate ROI narratives grounded in real workflow data - helping customers quantify time saved, cost avoided, and efficiency gained from Optimize recommendations.
  • Serve as a bridge between GTM and Product, acting as the primary voice of the customer for Optimize - documenting what's working, what's not, and what customers need next to inform the roadmap.
  • Develop repeatable playbooks for pre-sales technical motions, POC execution, and post-sale onboarding - turning first-principles learnings into scalable assets for the broader team.
  • Address technical and security questions during enterprise deal cycles, working cross-functionally with Engineering to resolve configuration issues and accelerate procurement.
  • Maintain deep technical knowledge across Scribe's Workflow AI capabilities, serving as a resource to pre- and post-sales teams.

Check out this post from members of our GTM team about what it's like to work at Scribe.
Location
Strongly prefer candidates based in San Francisco or New York. This role will include travel up to 30% to meet with top tier customers and prospects. For those based in the SF Bay Area, this role will be hybrid 2-3 days a week out of our SOMA office.
What Makes You a Great Fit
You'll thrive in this role if:
  • You have 5+ years in a Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Technical Account Management, or similar pre/post-sales technical role at a high growth SaaS company - and you're equally comfortable leading a technical demo with a VP of Operations and running a configuration setup call with a system admin.
  • You have strong AI fluency - you understand how large language models work, can speak credibly about LLM architecture, prompt design, model behavior, and AI output quality, and you're excited about the frontier of what Workflow AI makes possible.
  • You're comfortable working directly with AI/ML Engineering teams - translating customer requirements into technical context, participating in solutioning conversations, and advocating for customer-specific technical needs without losing the thread of business outcomes.
  • You can understand and articulate Scribe's Workflow AI technical framework - including how workflow data is captured, processed, and surfaced as insights - and you can explain it clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You understand enterprise workflows and operational processes - you've worked with teams running on tools like Salesforce, ServiceNow, and SAP, and you know how companies think about process improvement and automation.
  • You build trust fast - with executive stakeholders and with end users alike - and you know how to anchor technical conversations to the outcomes that matter to each audience.
  • You're a builder at heart - energized by the ambiguity of being first, and excited to define what this function looks like rather than step into a pre-made role.
  • You're data-driven and ROI-obsessed - you know how to build a business case, validate assumptions, and help a customer see real, quantifiable impact.
  • You're collaborative and low-ego - you thrive in a team environment, partner closely with AEs and CSMs, and see your success as inseparable from theirs.

Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience with process mining, workflow intelligence, or operational analytics tools (e.g., Celonis, UiPath Process Mining, ServiceNow Process Optimization).
  • Prior experience building or deploying AI-powered products in an enterprise context, or working within AI/ML product teams.
  • Prior experience in a founding or first-of-its-kind role at a high-growth SaaS company.
  • Background in management consulting, business process improvement, or digital transformation.
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI security reviews, model governance frameworks, or responsible AI practices.

If you're reading this thinking "that's me!", we want to meet you!
This Role Is Not for You If
  • You prefer a fully defined playbook over building one from scratch.
  • You see pre-sales and post-sales as separate jobs - this role requires you to span both, fluidly.
  • You're uncomfortable with hands-on technical implementation work and want to stay strictly in an advisory capacity.
  • You avoid ambiguity or expect every customer engagement to follow a predictable path.
