Senior Systems Administrator
Location: Nashville, TN
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join our Nashville-based IT Infrastructure team. This role is responsible for the design, administration, security, and operational support of enterprise infrastructure across Windows, Linux, cloud, virtualization, and end-user computing platforms.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded infrastructure professional who is equally comfortable managing Windows Server environments, troubleshooting Linux systems, automating administrative tasks, supporting cloud services, and partnering with cybersecurity and networking teams to maintain a secure and reliable technology environment.
This position will serve as a senior technical resource and escalation point for complex infrastructure issues while contributing to modernization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Administration
  • Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments across on-premises and cloud-hosted infrastructure.
  • Manage core infrastructure services including Active Directory, Okta, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, certificate services, and identity management platforms.
  • Support virtualization platforms including VMware and/or Hyper-V.
  • Maintain enterprise storage, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
  • Monitor system health, performance, availability, and capacity across infrastructure platforms.
  • Participate in infrastructure lifecycle management, including system upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning activities.
Cloud & Platform Services
  • Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and Entra ID.
  • Assist with administration of Microsoft Azure, AWS, and other cloud-hosted infrastructure services.
  • Support hybrid identity and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Participate in cloud migration and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls in partnership with Information Security teams.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation, patch management, system hardening, and access reviews.
  • Support endpoint security, identity security, privileged access management, and logging initiatives.
  • Assist with compliance, audit, and governance activities.
  • Investigate and resolve infrastructure-related security incidents.
Automation & Operational Excellence
  • Create and maintain infrastructure documentation, standards, diagrams, and operating procedures.
  • Improve operational efficiency through automation, monitoring, and process optimization.
  • Participate in after-hours support and on-call rotations as needed.
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Lead infrastructure projects from planning through implementation.
  • Mentor junior administrators and technical support personnel.
  • Collaborate with networking, security, application, and business teams to deliver technology solutions.
  • Work with vendors and service providers to support infrastructure initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of enterprise systems administration experience.
  • Strong experience administering Windows Server environments.
  • Working knowledge of Linux administration (Red Hat, Rocky, Ubuntu, or similar distributions).
  • Experience managing Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
  • Experience with PowerShell and at least one additional scripting language such as Bash or Python.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VPNs, routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience administering Microsoft Azure and AWS infrastructure and services.
  • Experience with Autopilot and modern endpoint management.
  • Familiarity with Linux server administration in production environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, automation, or configuration management tools.
  • Experience supporting enterprise cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat, or Azure certifications.
  • Experience supporting distributed or global organizations.
