GABLES RESIDENTIAL, BUSINESS ANALYTICS INTERN

Gables Residential, founded in 1982, is a vertically integrated real estate firm specializing in the development, ownership, acquisition, financing, and management of multifamily communities across the United States.

This internship is geared toward students interested in leveraging data analytics to drive business and performance outcomes within the commercial real estate industry. The Business Analytics Intern supports the collection, analysis, visualization, and reporting of operational performance data across a national multifamily portfolio. Through business intelligence, research, and performance measurement, this role helps inform strategic decision-making related to operational expenses and asset-level environmental performance initiatives. This position reports to the Director of Sustainability.

No two days will be the same when you join the sustainability team as a Business Analytics Intern to uphold our mission of Taking Care of the Way People Live. Examples of your responsibilities include:

  • Collect, validate, and analyze operational data from multiple sources to support portfolio performance tracking and reporting.
  • Develop reports and presentations that communicate business and environmental performance trends to internal stakeholders.
  • Perform data quality reviews, identify anomalies, and support continuous improvement of data management processes.
  • Analyze utility consumption, benchmarking performance and other key performance indicators to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Assist with financial and operational analyses to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of business initiatives.
  • Support special projects involving business intelligence, portfolio analytics, certifications and benchmarking.
  • Internship: Up to 40 hours per week-flexible based on student schedule.

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum GPA of 3.25.
  • Academic background or career interest in data analytics, business analytics, environmental economics, finance, real estate, engineering, information systems, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, databases, and data visualization tools.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; proficiency in PowerPoint and Word required. Experience with Power BI or similar analytics tools is a plus.
