Job Summary

This Associate Director of Academic Support Programs and Scholarships is responsible for overseeing support programs in the College of Engineering and for the assessment of such programs and all other student success initiatives. The job duties include managing the college's scholarship assignment process and serving as the college liaison to the University scholarship office, overseeing student support programs such as engineering tutoring, assessing and reporting on student success initiatives, and evaluating trends and practices to improve student success and timely graduation. The incumbent will also provide support to the engineering faculty and to the Dean's office on the assessment of academic programs for accreditation and will assist in the assessment and preparation of reports to funding agencies.  This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Programs.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $6,320 - $6,750 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $6,320 - $9,014 per month.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This position is a collaborative and strategic higher education professional with experience leading student success initiatives, academic support programs, and data-driven assessment efforts. They have the ability to direct and oversee tutoring services, including supplemental instruction, group study sessions, and other academic support programs, while providing leadership and guidance to program coordinators and student staff. The successful candidate is skilled in developing program structures, training student employees, and evaluating program effectiveness through the collection and analysis of utilization, retention, and persistence data to support continuous improvement.

In addition, the ideal candidate can effectively manage the Engineering Honors Track, serve as a liaison between academic departments and university partners, and coordinate scholarship processes by working closely with administrators, development professionals, and financial aid offices to support student funding opportunities. They possess strong analytical and organizational skills, with experience collecting, assessing, and reporting data for accreditation efforts, national surveys, student success initiatives, and externally funded grants. The candidate demonstrates proven supervisory abilities, successfully directing staff and student employees, organizing workloads, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently. They are adaptable, service-oriented, and committed to advancing student achievement while supporting college-wide initiatives and special projects as needed.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."


Education and Experience

REQUIRED: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree with upper or graduate coursework in counseling and guidance, human relations, or related fields and four years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas required.

PREFERRED: Masters or higher degree in a related field. Knowledge of assessment methods. Knowledge of accreditation procedures and requirements and experience using data analysis software.

Physical Summary
