Job description

Position Overview

The Quality Control Technician is primarily responsible for Inbound Rx clarification, impression/model grading and may be involved in outgoing quality assurance and quality control of fabrication standards. Additionally, the QC Tech is responsible for upholding the quality standards of the company and will ensure overall quality of dental prosthetics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately log and record case information and content into database
  • Maintain average daily standards for production and quality
  • Utilize expertise in dental aesthetics to solve complex issues between case design and customer preferences
  • Adhere to company standards for case evaluation and impression scoring
  • Continuously assess cases and make determination of appropriate resolution
  • Review prescription details for completeness and legibility.
  • Ensure a clear picture is accurately attached to case record
  • Interface with team and management team concerning process improvement and quality standards.
  • Escalate observed case issues including discrepancies between doctor preferences from data base and Rx and non-conformance to Rx format and other issues that may impact case quality to help improve the incoming QC process and work flow issues.
  • At times the Dental Laboratory technician may fabricate or repair entire dental appliance, alter dental appliance, or test appliance for conformity to specifications and accuracy of occlusion for training purposes.
  • Able to assess feasibility of dental appliance manufacture
  • Ability to adhere to assigned schedule
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of dental terminology and anatomy
  • Ability to evaluate color and minor changes in shading
  • Ability to use small hand tools
  • Proficiency with the English language writing and reading skills.
  • Knowledge of raw materials and production processes commonly used in the dental lab
  • Computer skills including ability to navigate among multiple screens and use of left and right click on a mouse.

Special Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years Dental Lab Technical experience
  • Advanced application of complex case fabrication and problem solving
  • Experience with all stages of work required to build appliance from impression to finish.
  • CDT is preferred but not required.

Outgoing

  • Minimum 3-5 years additional experience reviewing the performance of dental technicians.

Removable

  • Ability to recognize the various stages utilized in the production of a Removable prosthetic device

Fixed

  • Recognize the application of repair versus remake processes

Ortho

  • Ability to recognize distortions and flaws in a model
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to recognize proper positioning of attachments
