This vacancy is for a GS - 2101 - 12, Merchant Mariner Course Evaluator (Engine) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-NMC MARINER COURSE APPROVALS BR-MIAMI FL in MIAMI, Florida.Qualifications:

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

  • Experience with engine department shipboard operations and maintenance at the level of Second Assistant Engineer or higher on merchant vessels, with comprehensive knowledge of the technical skills required for licensed and unlicensed engineering positions, and familiarity with current maritime technologies;
  • Knowledge of international credentialing requirements under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) for Seafarers, 1978, as amended, at the management or operational level;
  • Experience interpreting and applying U.S. and international maritime regulations, policies, and standards relevant to engineering operations and personnel;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to clearly convey complex technical information to diverse audiences and to build productive professional relationships;
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals
