Job description

Purpose Of Position
The job of Supervisor of Business Services provides oversight of project implementation and supports continuity of operations for the Intermediate Unit and school districts, as needed. The position is also responsible for coordinating with programs to implement workflow changes to improve efficiency.
Essential Functions
  • Supervise and monitor various business office functions and/or processing of information for projects, including but not limited to budget development, compliance monitoring, rate calculations, personnel and contract management, and all financial reporting needs.
  • Oversee the development, management, and reconciliation of financial information, files, and records for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy and compliance with established policies, regulatory guidelines, and contractual obligations.
  • Management policies and procedures of assigned projects for the purpose of maintaining compliance with established federal, state, and local fiscal policies.
  • Oversee staff in the collection and reporting of necessary data for required projects and to ensure legal and contractual compliance.
  • Supervise the monitoring of all financial activity for designated funds.
  • Coordinate the monitoring process program compliance; including communicating expectations & requirements, reviewing budget submissions, invoices, and required documentation.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
  •  Management and review fiscal information and/or documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with established policies. Support annual review of fiscal/operations policies and updating procedures and directives on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide support during the audit process.
  • Compile financial data and reports for internal and external departmental needs.
  • Act as a liaison to a wide variety of sources for the purpose of facilitating and coordinating communication and/or providing guidance to various parties, serving in an administrative capacity for districts to fulfil contractual requirements as needed.
  • Train staff to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and standard fund accounting practices.
  • Performs other duties as requested and/or assigned by Chief Finance and Operations Officer and/or Assistant Chief Finance and Operations Officer.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Education Required:   Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.                  
Certification Required:  None
Experience Required:  5 years experience as an assistant business manager or equivalent.                         
Other Qualifications:   Oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, strong organizational skills.  Ability to relate and function effectively with people of varying backgrounds and positions.  Maintain confidentiality at all times.
