Job description

Position Summary

The 2nd Shift Warehouse Supervisor leads day-to-day distribution center operations to ensure safe, accurate, and on-time outbound and inbound execution. This role supervises hourly associates across picking, packing, replenishment, shipping, and/or receiving; manages labor to hit daily volume and carrier cutoff times; and drives consistent performance through coaching, standard work, and KPI management.

Core ResponsibilitiesOperations / Execution
  • Lead 2nd shift DC activities including receiving, putaway, replenishment, picking, packing, staging, and shipping/loading.
  • Plan and assign labor by zone/function to meet hourly production targets and outbound cutoffs.
  • Coordinate dock activity: trailer moves, load plans, staging, seal control, and shipping documentation.
  • Monitor WMS activity (waves, work queues, exceptions) and resolve issues impacting throughput.
People Leadership
  • Supervise, coach, and develop associates (training, job rotation, performance feedback).
  • Run pre-shift huddles: safety topic, priorities, staffing, KPI expectations.
  • Manage attendance and enforce policies; complete documentation and corrective action when needed.
Safety / Quality / Inventory
  • Enforce safety standards (PPE, PIT rules, pedestrian traffic, lockout/tagout as applicable).
  • Reduce damages, shorts, and mis-picks through audits, coaching, and root-cause follow-up.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy via cycle counts, location audits, bin checks, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Ensure clean, organized work areas (5S/housekeeping) and proper material handling.
Continuous Improvement
  • Track and communicate KPIs (units/hour, pick accuracy, on-time ship %, damages, overtime).
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements (standard work, layout changes, training refreshers).
  • Partner with 1st shift leadership and other departments on handoffs, backlog recovery, and staffing plans.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of warehouse/DC leadership experience (team lead, supervisor, assistant supervisor, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of DC processes: picking/packing/shipping, receiving/putaway, replenishment, inventory control.
  • Experience using a WMS and RF scanning (exception handling a plus).
  • Ability to lead from the floor, prioritize in real time, and hold teams accountable to performance standards.
  • Comfortable working 2nd shift with flexibility for peak/holiday volume.
