GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
Leads the facility’s teams of Operations Managers, providing strategic direction and oversight to deliver operational excellence and achieve financial and service goals. This role drives alignment and collaboration across retail, operations, and eCommerce functions, ensuring consistent execution of business strategies. Responsible for optimizing performance, people, and processes, the Senior Operations Manager partners effectively across all levels of the organization – implementing operational upgrades, influencing outcomes, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The role applies strong strategic and analytical skills to advance both short- and long- term planning, while enhancing the “can-do culture that inspires high-performing teams. Success in this position requires equal parts creativity, innovation, and business acumen. By developing smart, intuitive standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guiding Operations Managers to deliver results, the Senior Operations Manager elevates performance across the facility.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
Our Senior Operations Managers are champions of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, and should demonstrate them skillfully and consistently by performing the following duties and responsibilities of the position (as well as all other projects/duties as assigned):


Performance

  • Inspires, leads, and motives high-energy, results-driven teams in a fast-paced retail and eCommerce operations environment. Effectively leads cross-functional management teams with diverse goals and responsibilities.
  • Applies strong business acumen to identify opportunities for growth and operational improvement. Proactively identifies, addresses, and recommends solutions for any operational issues that may impact the associate experience, service levels, and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensures teams and departments achieve or exceed productivity goals each week.
  • Monitors and analyzes daily KPIs and takes necessary action to meet or exceed goals.
  • Maintains consistent, reliable attendance to support business needs.

People

  • Manages and leads a team of up to 8 exempt Operations Managers, who lead 150-250 full-time non-exempt associates, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and career development.
  • Champions and models Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Demonstrates high standards of associate safety, customer service, and servant leadership.
  • Provides coaching and feedback to improve individual and team performance, sharing best practices to drive consistency and excellence.
  • Plans and coordinates non-exempt and exempt team staffing needs.
  • Develops partnerships with all leaders across shifts to make decisions and solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leads and executes best practices to promote associate engagement and to enable a high-performing workforce to contribute to the company’s strategic growth and business objectives
  • Role models behaviors aligned to a values-based, guest-centric, high performing culture with an emphasis on embracing our competencies and delivering with subject matter expertise
  • Partners across the network organization to coach and develop leaders to ensure they are building culture action plans that best align to our people strategies and business initiatives
  • Participates in talent calibration, culture survey action planning, goal setting and rollout, performance review consultation, and IDP creation/execution.
  • Attends mandatory training and meetings to enable continuous professional development, completes all training on time.

  • Maintains thorough knowledge of and ensures compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Work a flexible, full-time schedule, to include days, evenings, weekend, and holidays
  • Visit stores to develop an understanding of the store experience and collaborate with field partners
  • Travel as needed, including overnight stays

  • Constant exposure to distribution center conditions, which may include loud noises, variable temperatures, a dusty environment, and strong scents related to cosmetics or fragrance.

The pay range for this position is $102,900.00 - $174,700.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company's bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
