Job description

WEBTOON Entertainment is a leading global entertainment company and home to some of the world's largest storytelling platforms. As the global leader and pioneer of the mobile webcomic format, WEBTOON Entertainment has transformed comics and visual storytelling for fans and creators.

With its CANVAS UGC platform empowering anyone to become a creator, and a growing roster of superstar WEBTOON Originals creators and series, WEBTOON Entertainment’s passionate fandoms are the new face of pop culture. WEBTOON Entertainment adaptations are available on Netflix, Prime Video, Crunchyroll, and other screens around the world, and the company’s content partners include Discord, HYBE, and DC Comics, among many others.

We are building a destination where new and lifelong fans of Marvel comics can discover, follow, and enjoy reading iconic stories with an experience that is as thoughtfully curated as it is technically advanced. To deliver this, we are developing our own content map, purpose-built for the way comics are actually read — across characters, arcs, events, eras, and creator runs. Your role as a contractor is to validate the content map and the building blocks, and to bring the perspective of real comics fans into the development loop, so that every recommended reading path, entry point, and connection between stories holds up to how fans actually experience the catalog.

Employment Type: Part-Time, Contract (5 Month Assignment with possible extension)

Time Commitment: Flexible; estimated 15-25 hours per week with milestone-based deliverables

What You Will Do

Editorial Review of Reading Paths & Comic Issues
•    Review reading orders proposed by the team across multiple dimensions — Character, story arcs, writer runs, events and crossovers, eras, and imprints — and refine them based on canon, narrative quality, and reader experience.
•    Validate issue-level sequencing within each reading path and flag where the proposed order would confuse, spoil, or under-serve a reader. Define and curate canonical entry points for new readers with clear rationale for each.
•    Provide concise editorial rationale for each reading path, highlighting its intended reading experience, key strengths, and any important considerations for readers.
•    Assess the intended audience and reading complexity for each reading path (e.g., beginner, intermediate, advanced), ensuring recommendations are appropriate for different levels of Marvel familiarity.

Cross-Item Connections
•    Map the connective tissue between events, arcs, and runs — including prerequisites, parallel storylines, optional side reading, and post-event continuity — so that readers can move through the catalog without losing the thread.
•    Identify and document key continuity nodes (major status-quo changes, character milestones, multiverse pivots) that the content map should treat as anchors.

Collaboration with Product Teams
•    Partner closely with the product and business teams to translate domain expertise into structured systems.
•    Provide written rationale, source citations, and confidence levels for review decisions so that the team can audit and iterate.
•    Participate in regular working sessions (typically remote, U.S. business hours) to align on scope, prioritize titles, and resolve edge cases.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated deep expertise in Marvel Comics

• Working knowledge of Marvel continuity (e.g., key Avengers, Spider-Man, X-Men, and event arcs from the modern era through the present)

• Comfortable working in structured tools (spreadsheets, shared documents) and providing feedback in a format suitable for engineering and data teams.

•   Authorized to work in the United States as an independent contractor.

• (Preferred) Experience in editorial and/or creative writing
