Responsibilities

The Building Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, boilers (steam and hot water), radiators, pumps, rooftop units, package units, split systems, and air handling units. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical troubleshooting abilities and solid technical expertise. 

Parking is available. The role also requires participation in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation. 

Location: NW Washington DC

Hours: 6:00am - 2:30pm (Monday - Friday) 

Salary: $40 - $45

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair of the HVAC systems and associated equipment
  • Maintain plant and equipment in sound operating condition
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC system problems as assigned by Work Control
  • Provide direction and support to sub-contractors designated to perform repair of plant, equipment and/or hardware
  • Interface with building managers and other customer representatives in order to ensure client satisfaction
  • Accurately document work performed on trouble tickets or work orders
  • Operate and perform Preventive Maintenance on HVAC and associated equipment
  • Operate Building Energy management System (EMS) and Building Controls
  • Place and/or remove systems, hardware and equipment as required
  • Purchase materials and supplies, and maintain inventory as required for timely work completion
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Must be on-site during the assigned hours and available to respond to on-site emergencies  
QualificationsQualifications
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 5 years of building engineering experience within similar size/scope
  • Completed coursework in HVAC area
  • Universal CFC Certification
  • DC 3rd Class license preferred, not required
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
  • Able to lift up to sixty (60) pounds
  • Capable of ascending ladders up to a height of thirty (30) feet
