Job description

Melwood has an immediate need for a DC 3rd Class Engineer in Washington, DC. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance during his/her watch of all equipment in his/her plant.

The Engineer DC 3rd Class is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance during his/her watch of all equipment in his/her plant. Operates and maintains one or more systems which provide the facility with such services as heat, air-conditioning (cool, humidify, dehumidify, filter, and circulate air), refrigeration steam or high temperature water or electricity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters and charts which register various aspects of the system's operation, adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the service provided;
  2. Records in logs various aspects of the system's operation;
  3. Keeps the engines, machinery and equipment of the system in good working order
  4. May direct and coordinate activities of other workers (not stationary engineers) in performing tasks directly related to operating and maintaining the system or systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a minimum of a DC 3rd Class Engineer's License. A DC 1st Class Engineer's License is preferred.
  2. Must be able to gain clearance/access to a federal facility as governed by the customer
  3. Experience using MAXIMO is preferred.
